Starts tomorrow but no mention that I have seen here.

Is this another example of a Agri show that has lost it's roots. (And I know it may have been doing so for a number if years)

They could be a great showcase for British agriculture but so many are just full of tat.

I've never been always been put off by the negative comments I've heard over the years. Thought I'd go this Friday and having mentioned the fact to both farmers and people in the trade yet more negative comments so staying at home.

Is it worth a £19.50 (adult) per day entry fee?

At least there is a proper agricultural show due in the coming weeks. ;)

They are trying to get it more AG vested ( ie : Mole valley area ) problem for all the shows if you attend the same one/s every year is that it ends up being much the same as the year before ( Mid Devon is a great show but I know quite a few people that used to be there at 9 am and were kicked out at 5 pm and they still said they hadn't seen half of it, but now the same people are heading home again at lunchtime ).. Devon county is fine to go to for a bit of a pee up with non farming friends but as a farmer I wouldn't go..

Expensive to get in ( £18/20 on the gate this year? )

Thinking of braving the locals and going to the Royal Welsh this year if workload permits.

Love the Royal Cornwall so know the difference.

Luckily I get free entry to the Devon and am there tomorrow to pick up a bit of kit.

But sad to see how it has changed.

I saw the MVF tie up on the show web site, first thought it will be going the same way as the mole valley news letter, sorry meant to say South West Farmer paper.:D

Off topic but did anyone see the slight printing error and apology in South West Farmer:whistle:

(Write up on Red Rubies illustrated with picture of a South Devon bull last month:D this month apology to the South Devon breeder and promise of write up on South Devons in next issue:censored::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: no mention of an apology for the Red Devons:rolleyes:)

Used to regularly go whilst I was growing up just as long as dad wasn't silaging and loved it, but stopped when I started working. Went last year and wasn't over enamoured, definitely not aimed at farmers with the likes of the fairground etc and if it wasn't for the free tickets I would of been wicked. It's a shame as it's local, but much prefer mid Devon(lot of the people we deal with are there) and royal Cornwall.

The Devon county show had lost it's rural aspect but in the last few years they have been making attempts to bring it back and luckily it's going in the right direction the Devon yfc tent is always worth a vist IMO . saying that the tickets are a rip off

Sounds exactly like the Kent County Show I'm afraid, less and less farming related stuff every year. All it is now is a expensive big boot fair. I know that they are trying to cater for the masses but when your own county's agricultural show sells its own down the river for more profit what chance has farming in this country got?

Same as the Shropshire show, which is on Saturday , but isn't a patch on the old Westmid show of years gone by . That was a very good two day show.
You can't beat Oswesty for a good agricultural based one day show, first sat in August.

another vote for Royal Cornwall , just like a show used to be , lots of smaller dealers and contributors really friendly feel , Bath + West is just down the road from us but thats lost all its appeal as well hardly any ag content away from the livestock lines .
Considering the amount of other things on at the showground these days do they all have to charge so much for trade stands at the main show ? mega bucks

Bang on with that description, but then if it was any good we wouldn't have the excellent Agri expo se.

On the Willand to Uffculme road or Willand to JT27?? most of that ground is owned by Persey's who sold their dairy herd last year ( 600 + head in a one day sale on farm ) so could be feasible as the land has to be de-stocked for so many weeks before/ after the event, would have thought it was fairly wet ground thou..
