nice day today:love:....the sort that make up for some of the the sh!tty ones

first thing.....how long is ewe gestation.?...i thought it was 140 days:scratchhead:....TBH being an ayr lambing type i don't take much notice but it's day 140 and my lot don't show much interest:scratchhead:......two wilts and mcnabs jumped out today....the former have disappeared down the field ...the latter put in odds/sods ram lamb pen where he had 'handbags' with bhuna:rolleyes:

early start and nowt doin so retired to computer and submitted my cs claim form and emailed some bits to agent who does bps(y)...K fettled sheep then we checked stalag fence....put a coupla clipex eco posts in.....they're excellent for replacing rotted posts.....might need a strand of barbed along southern boundary:scratchhead:

back at yard HH had turned up and offered help.....but i decided we'd have a little go in house...to wit a short beam next to a chimney.....spent the rest of morning cutting and drilling a steel post to reinforce...fits a treat(y)....just got to decide how to secure it nicely:scratchhead:

lunch was late and shortened by a commotion in yard....i emerge and fd is circling a chap whilst agronomist arrives to have a look around...the chap turns out to be the new brinnicombe rep....agronomist returns whilst we are chatting.....i confess i 'held court'.....sitting in the fox endlessly trying to re light my rollie and generally hamming it up😁😁.....'bit dry' says agronomist.....'really?' i say 'we had a rain last week'.....'ah yes you got THE RAIN' he replies almost biblically....apparently we got 7mm but it fizzled out elsewhere:oops:....he also asks me if triticale is for grain....i reply if sheep don't eat it first😁

HH returns as they depart and paints some fence posts for me.....we're painting bottom 2ft of conventionally treated posts with black bitumen as a sort of post saver experiment:scratchhead:......i trundle off and roll some spring barley:love:

the admiral is raving about the 'new green pills' (tic tacs) and how they're helping her sleep...i've had to invent a complete back story to cover it ....saying they're probably a more easily absorbed version of the others cos their made with sucrose rather than chalk and how i've had to sweet talk the gp into letting her switch:rolleyes:....i actually ran outlast night so she's been on about getting more all day😁

Well I always worked on 147 days or 21wks. This year they started at 20wks and 100 had lambed by 21wks when the help started:banghead:

So just Googled it and 147 is the average but can be 142 days to 152 days. Didn’t know there was a 10 day range. Always believed it was within a couple of days of 147 days. Learn something everyday.

just deleted todays offering as terribly written....think might have touch of sunstroke.....summary of days events

washing out an ibc found a mysterious white bag in bottom

set of small triplets

did sheepy stuff

finished rolling spring barley

took bhuna to vets with HH for horn trim

ewe lambs got out but as they are 'junior hurdlers' and i am 'snot jedi' they were easily recaptured😁

photographed some ducklings:love:

friday

it was indeed sunstroke :banghead: ....ffs it's either physical or mental.. i'm such a lightweight:(....my only 'redemption' is that i've the ability to rest/patch myself up and go again:rolleyes:.....so tea's veggie curry made 3 'curtain calls' twixt 10-11pm and can now join lamb bhuna on my list of 'foods that look the same when they come out as when they went in'.....although in fairness the bhuna can 'survive' the whole 'process'😗

in an attempt to try and arrive at our lambing start date i've taken a 'leaf' from @Radio and calculated nov 5th till april 1st....146 days....making our official start date next monday......that said had a suffolk x with twins first up(y)......one lamb had trekked to other side of the shed though and required some colostrum to catch up:rolleyes:

resta day was essential services and rest....did go down and pay arkwright up to date and set some leccy fence out for K to finish(y)...the stuff in the ibc i've decided is glue that has set aka @delilah suggestion:)....find another use for it ...not gonna risk it for water;)

which just leaves us this whole charlie comparing me to yoda and more unflattering photo's.....in my weakened state yesterday i let it go....but ,on reflection. i did let him off that whole 'easter equestrian jaunt to burnham market' without pee take and yet thats the reward i get:scratchhead: i mean there he is playing at breckland redneck cum 'little house on the praire' when it reality it's closer to 'little lord fauntleroy'😁

saturday.....full of energy this morning but fekked agin tonight

6am check round wasn't the best....ok single.... but prolapse suffolk x tried to lamb a very large single and it'd hung itself:(....we've actually had 4 prolapses out of 130 so not quite as bad as i thought.....walked dog....did arkwright run.....then found another prolapse had lambed a single but not finished ....left her an hour but then had a look....pulled two more live lambs out(y)......last one was tangled and preventing second:rolleyes:......only one harness ewe to go......hopefully:rolleyes:

pottered doing odd jobs til K arrived and i left her to it cos WHR arrived and demanded action....last coupla days HH had slowed up but last night the orders started flowing again.....resta morning replaced 4 floor joists.....went for replacing like/like rather than spk's plan cos ceiling can be kept higher....so it was 9ft hunks of 8x4 c24.....went in well TBH.....feck the beams are hard...old oak...doesn't sound much work but endless up/down...fettlin...haulin:rolleyes:

shower....lunch...nap:love:.....tease yorkie on his tulip thread😁......afternoon chores...city lose😭

back to lambing shed for last check:)

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
