rated my chances at 25% this morning but 1pm i'm washed...on the sofa....and 'flushed' with success :D:D:D

my early pessimism was unfounded....i thought that a tree root or collapse was the drain problem but in the end i got the rods thru and there was block but nothing else... rods were retrieved using a long AI glove though...yeuch .......spent the afternoon on the sofa in me tiger onsie.....couldn't be bothered to change outta it for pm fat lamb feed....peacock was there...'oh my gawd ..i've seen it all now':D:D

so we're back....had a nice time but glad to be home (y)....i don't 'do' cities much and TBH they're alien landscapes to me

first night we took her highness to bella italia...not my fave to say the least but girlies liked it:).....the waiter got terrified when her highness listed her food intolerences:oops:...i can't blame him:D:D....anyhoo after the meal i was having a rollie outside and the first signs of rough sleepers appeared:(....a nervous looking girl took up position near a litter bin.....then a man with a dog ambled up....he was hailed by the doormen of the next door bar who proceeded to give him 2 cigarettes ...he asked a couple of drinkers for change then moved on.....next two other doormen in another pubs livery wandered up the street...hailed the first doormen and headed on ....they walked past the nervous girl not doing anything but it was enough...she got up and moved.....later ,as we left, her spot had been taken by a middle aged man......back at the tram stop i got talking to a policemen....i asked him what was being built in the town square....turns out it is a halloween ride....blimey though it is a massive structure huge wooden 'A' frames...teleporter and crane....honestly it'd be a bloomin good barn for you and me....thing is after halloween it's all gonna be taken down ready for an ice rink and christmas market ....the policemen was clearly proud of his city but to me the endulgence or largesse of building such a structure for the temporary amusement of those who can afford to ride it didn't sit quite right

tuesday 'HH' had a full day so we rode into the city centre on the bus...i'd not been on a bus since 2015 ....turns out our hotel is really near trent bridge cricket...forest's ground and ,just over the river, notts county's home:).....then we trekked round some of the tourist attractions...meahhh:cautious:.....finally mrs spin wanted to go round the 'caves'.....now mrs spin is brilliant at everything ..except current affairs and navigating.....i got us within 100yds of them, i sat on a war memorial, she declared we were wrong....a mile later we get in:banghead:.....find out we should really booked:banghead:....leave defeated...i suggest some unexplored steps to the right....we ascend and there's the war memorial:banghead::banghead::banghead:.....my leg is hurting by this stage.....there's a little church in another square...ice cream van(y)....i partake whilst girls do little shopping...i sit and and watch.....on observing the workings of the city the depressing reality is that our whole urban economy is built on indulgent consumption:(.......spotted some other homeless ppl cept even amongst them there appears a hierachy from the man ambling about in a drug enthused haze to the one by some kinda charging station....his phone and music system being powered by the municipal usb charger:scratchhead:

wednesday is 'girly' shopping day with HH....'do you want to stay behind?' mrs spin rolls her eyes....DO I (y):D:D.....mind you a day of mooching and movies for men and i had a headache :(...did watch a bit of 'notts tv' which was interesting....the one thing that has struck me is how the ppl are so friendly :).....ppl who serve you in shops and bus drivers....the latter being only to pleased to help you out with the baffling,to us, routes

thursday.....back to the caves  mrs spin is not to be denied:D:D....we are joined by a rather hungover 'boy' who travelled up by train....went out with HH and her friends (on condition he didn't 'hit' on any of them:D) and then joined us for the day:)....off the tram a stop earlier i march off leading the way.....mrs spin cajoling me that i'm wrong just as the war memorial appears(y):D...caves are good....they have tour guides for each bit ...it must be repetitive for them but blimey it doesn't show :).....that evening mrs spin cooked HH and her flatmates a roast and i washed up:)....HH had just about got over her embarrassment of me being her dad by then:D...they're a nice bunch:)

friday it was home time...however i finally expose 'putin' ....the sat nav app on mrs spin's phone....now we'd had some trouble navigating around and i suspected that we'd been hacked by the russkis ...little things...'turn left now' when it was clear it was further on ect but i'd been 'poo poo'ed' and we all know what happens when you ignore 'poo poo'......i got him though(y) ....he clearly said 'at the roundabout take the 4th exit to newark' BUT we needed and took 3rd exit...'HA got you yer barsteward'(y)....yer know what:rolleyes:.....none of the others cared:oops:.....what chance do we stand:banghead:......boy and i devise/play 'roadkill cricket' ....badger 6 ,deer 4, rabbit 2,bird 1....fox wicket....rat run out.....i win by 1 run....mind you we're unsure how to score squirrell:scratchhead::D

Thank you for the comprehensive report! I was wondering if you were ok when you hadn't posted for a few days. Enjoyable as always, its good to know that other people's lives are as unruly as mine.

saturday

what a miserable day....everything seems in order..ish :D on the farm....i did the bills...just as grim as i thought:cry:.....one bright spot was last lambs averaged £74 after deductions which compares favourably with the same time on the tracker:)....perhaps i'm not so sh!t as i thought:D

i'm on the trail of a standen rapide sugar beet harvester......i thought i'd put an ad in farmers guide but turns out i'd only put it on the website:banghead:...thinking is to lift some beet so i can feed elsewhere....store some for when housed....might even sell a few:scratchhead:......plus it'd be a bit of nostalgic playing(y)....in other 'mechanical news' nev took the bearing off the vermeer so the repair diagnosis is positive:)

sunday

hiding behind the sofa as i type city as 0-2 down and 'manure' have had two penalties saved...suppose it is nearly halloween :cry:

lovely day today ...glad to get out and about ..... did some fencing over at fils as we have minor store lamb snottage:rolleyes:....situation is that there are 10 lambs out but they don't look as 'out' as they did first thing:D:whistle:
after lunch sit down...bitta paperwork....body clock all over the place with time change

right...back behind the sofa:rolleyes::D

bitta regulation day really....not much to report....morning was spent doing chores/odd jobs.....afternoon dude and i fenced/gave more grass to store lambs....blast they look good (y)

tuesday
pony not well again...mum wanted vet...i get grumpy that this is forth visit:banghead:....why didn't we just go with vets advice on steroids after two visits:banghead:.....also pee'd up my plans as mum wanted me to be there for 'moral support' and vet was coming 'around' 11am:rolleyes:

mum also reckoned ewes were outta beet :scratchhead:....on inspection they're not but i reckon i'll give them some more as we're getting close to tups in....thinking is let them have best bite now.....then last fresh bite in months time....so best stuff at tupping plus implantation...then they can finish off rest of roots during lower demand mid pregnancy ;)....i dug 1m row on eaten bit...reckon circa 18t/ac left

apres vet ...dude arrives....in attempt to salvage somat from day we ponder recovering polytunnel:scratchhead:......was going to put leftover tile batten in as extra purlins ...but binned the idea....instead we've used some batten and raised the ridge.....not sure what i'm doing TBH:scratchhead:.....bodge it up for now:whistle:

tree surgeon finally came today to tackle our large poplar in back garden....he admits he's been putting it off....he hates working on poplars cos they're so unpredictable....he wasn't dissapointed:D:D......garden is now full of branches/timber....more work for dude:D......TS reckons he's finished with poplars after this one:D

HH is coming back for a day cos pony is sick....wait for it....cuddles is bringing her:oops:......so there obviously 'friends' still......we're just wondering about the 'with benefits' bit:D:D.....anyway we're all for the 'high jump'....me for not looking after pony right....mrs spin for getting another kitten cos last time we did one of her cats ran off...and cinders for nicking her clothes (as usual):D

believe it or not sometimes it can be a bit of a chore writing this diary...but i want to keep going for a year if i can....i was knackered when i came in i wasn't gonna write ...but leaving two days can make it even harder

managed to get ewes moved today on fresh FB (y) ....just as finishing i look up and see two white specks two fields away....SNOTTAGE:banghead::banghead:....in the end round up 6 of the buggers:banghead::banghead:

looked over the rams :scratchhead:.....my beltex/texel hasn't the best feet ......can't see anything wrong but suspicious ...i give him AB....one thing i'll say about my ewes is they've got good feet(y)....his son's are good (y).....closer i get to putting tups in the more i wonder if i've enough tup 'firepower'......two 2 shear tups and 3 ram lambs for circa 200 ewes :scratchhead:......gotta exlana x wilt tup who could/would do the lot easily but i don't want to use him cos to many 'o' grades:rolleyes:...pity cos crikey the lambs are lively.....do i dip into the 'transfer market' for another tup:scratchhead:

dude turns up and it's polytunnel roof fix (bodge) part two:whistle:....at one stage i decide i need exhaust clamps.....arkwright has 11....i need 9......somehow i end up buying 11 :scratchhead:....get back to farm and realise they're not big enough:banghead:......fortunately dude has bought me a sausage roll that supplies just enough 'brain food' for an 'eureka moment' and another solution(y):D.....got the old sheet back on....it covers all but one bay.....dude reckons it's not a bad bodge :D.....i'm not so sure:rolleyes:....we both agree at least it'll keep the straw dry on fine days:D

knock off 1/2 hour early...get home...see tree surgeons who are finishing up.....feck me there's alot a clearing up to do:banghead:...a tree i wanted pollarded has been felled...'sorry jim you were overuled by a higher authority' (mrs spin) TS explains :D

Road kill cricket : what a fantastic way to make light entertainment of randomly scattered piles of necrotic and purifying flesh !

my upcoming trip to Scotland is now going to be like a test series (y)

latest updated rules
1/ take it it turns to 'bat'...so if a wkt falls the other player starts batting
2/update on scoring...badger 6....deer 4....hare 3....rabbit/mustelid 2...feathers 1
3/ a player may declare a wkt at anytime to switch play....BUT...1 mile must elapse before play restarts
4/ any unfortunate creature hit by the car in which the players are travelling MUST NOT be counted
5/ fox = caught or bowled....rat = runout....and to clear up the squirrel conundrum ....that is also out 'SBW'....'squirrel before wicket' :D

i'm so sad/nerdy/both:rolleyes::D......catch up on diary tommoz:)

Not sure of your planned route or how many runs a pheasant scores but you'll hit a century at a rate Jos Buttler would be proud of if you come up the A76 in the near future.

MANFLU :banghead: ....started to come on thursday.....now i'd like to defend us male sufferers because i have a theory that goes like this....the women get the bug and soldier on BUT in doing so make the virus stain stronger so that when we unfortunate blokes catch it the flu is twice as bad;),,,,at least thats my excuse and i'm sticking to it:whistle::oops:

thursday
felt poorly and realised the 'nottingham uni' and 'sheringham high school' lurgy strains had merged to attack me:( ....K having day off so it was a case of 'essential services' only....mind you that also consisted of having another go at my tenants drains which i thought i'd cleared:scratchhead:.....stick the rods down... feel an obstruction.....ramming....withdraw rods only to find a rod stuck in the cork screw:oops:....i must've lost a rod last time:oops:......anyhoo fingers crossed:).......so writing that episode was a 'double entendre' nightmare :D....tried to do a bit of work on pigeon loft but had to give up cos o the lurg:(
that evening we had a pigeon club meeting....we'd had quite a successful season but the news wasn't good....PB our chairman has developed some arthritis and might pack up:(..'f**k f**k' has some respiratory problems and the 'swiss' is moving to north walsham:banghead:.......we could loose so many club workers it could be curtains:(
....
friday....feel really rough:(...it's an errands day:)....take mum for trip out to mole country stores to get pony a rain sheet:rolleyes:......'bo peep' serves us....she is working there now.....now i could write an entire chapter on her and her adventures but for now to summarise....she sheared our sheep in 2016...had her horses at ours briefly before running off with a stock car driver from north walsham:D....that didn't last but now she's with a farrier and seems settled....it's good news cos she's had a very rough life....her main love is horses and breaking bones falling off them:rolleyes:...anyhoo i'd not seen her in two years....i tease her that i'm gonna buy some shearing gear so she can shear our lot....she reckons she will:oops:(y)

afternoon i'm off to 'naam....gotta couple fallen store lambs....pay some bills.....getta account printout from bank so i can do vat return early:)

get home and two emails stand out....first from the bank thanking me for filling outta form telling them who we are but could they have a utilities bill to confirm address and a copy of our partnership agreement.....FOR f**kS SAKE WE'VE BEEN TRADING AS A PARTNERSHIP WITH THEM FOR 50+ YEARS :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:.......second is from our NE guy....apparently we're eligible to have our agreement extended by a year and should've recieved the paperwork already,,,,lucky us:rolleyes:...but for ..f**k SAKE I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH WE'RE OWED OR IF/WHEN WE'RE GONNA BE PAID:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Get well soon, spin. Treat yerself to a brace of power naps and some Beecham's Powders (or the equivalent that suits your system). Don't forget plenty of water to keep the hydration up enough.

Bank staff are probably embarrassed by having to follow one-size-fits-all protocols with long-established customers, so best lettem ticka box, to the accompaniment of mutual  and

Sending very special "hurry up" vibes towards NE!

my pessimism is due i'm sure to my 'lurg' but it's mutated into 'gallows humour'.....like today i paid my somewhat large barclaycard bill...i've no personal money left but at least, i thought, i'd cleared that bill....then mrs spin trots through...'i've just found your barclaycard bill on the dresser'.....then reading it i realised i still owe some :banghead::banghead:

on the farm it's no better....you'll never guess the stupid thing i've gone and done:banghead::banghead:.....pratt that i am i've only gone and turned the bloody tups in:rolleyes:...feck sake what did i go that for :banghead:.....i suppose april 1st to start is appropriate for me:D ....mind you the fekkers are probably in lamb already....some screwy ram lamb i missed or the teaser regrew his tubes knowing my luck....i'll be trotting down the field for next month scratching me head that there's none raddled then the fekkers will start lambing peaking on christmas fecking day:banghead:

oh well somedays it's only my cheerful disposition that keeps me going:rolleyes::D:D

finally got time to start going thru store lambs at fil's.....problem is how to catch/sort.....various options but in the end we scraped up 30 hurdles and ,with K, a largish catching pen was made....we tested it....caught about 70 (y)....drafted out 15 ram lambs and took them home....had an easy afternoon....the 'lurg' is getting better but i'm still wasted by about 2pm:(

wednesday

now i hadn't realised quite how many ram lambs had 'slipped the net' during my lost elastrator fiasco at lambing:oops: but it's clear now i'm in a bit of a muddle:banghead:.....the store lamb field looks akin to a club 18-30 orgy sponsored by viagra whilst the ewes/rams on fodder beet looks like a coach party of geriatrics :banghead:.....our attempts to catch the rest of the store lambs didn't go as well today either....even with the cat and his dog on a lead they wern't for being caught:banghead:.....we did catch some and drafted another load of ram lambs......some mitigation is that the replacement ewe lambs are amongst the stores so they're getting most of the attention but i'm resigned to having the rest scanned prior to sale:rolleyes:.......panama cigar moment i think spin:rolleyes:

two lotsa calculus......first is my little trailer holds 13 x 47kg fat lambs or 611kg....now going over to fil's i could get 18 stores in and on the way back i get 15 so the went over 34kg and are coming back 40kg ish......looks like they've grown about 100g/day:scratchhead:

second is my potential lambing nightmare....i was late weaning the lambs:banghead:......suppose there was a ram lamb capable beforehand:oops: ......wean on 8th august is a max lambing date jan 20th.....but surely my mix of texel/charolais/exlana/ wilt crosses wouldn't be cycling in july:scratchhead::banghead:

in other news HH is home for a flying visit and i'm gonna watch a webinar by ahdb on fodder beet at 7pm......mind you some advice on sheep contraception might be more apt
