First point correct, whichever you use its a unit of measurement you just need to get your head around it. I've never got into hectares mainly because I haven't needed to, conversations with the older generation are always in acres as that's all they want to know, all contractors I've dealt with have always been acres as has any land I've bought or rented, I fact the only time I need go near hectares is submitting the SFP form for which I use an agent so basically all I do is point at fields on a map.

I just don't understand the comment about ploughing with oxen, presumably compared with ploughing with a modern tractor (should that be min till)? I just don't see one method of measurement being superior to the other, it's just about what you or I understand.
