Driven a couple, they’re pretty numb and hydraulics are a bit slow, also got a really annoying safety system on the joystick.

I don’t think jcb or manitou should be overly worried any time soon.

Client of mine had one, it replaced an aged Matbro TR250 from memory. Wasn't ever going to scare JCB or Manitou from what I saw as it was a lot more basic than their machines but he got on well with it. Still has it I think.

Had a 4 tonne machine on demo against our merlo. Wasn't too bad a machine, ridiculous pushing power but a bit unrefined. We were concerned about residuals but not a problem if your looking to keep it a long time. There's a couple a few about locally and haven't heard any horror stories.

Here's my review of a demo one back from 2016. Primarily focused around the lockout system.

Tried to unload a fert delivery with one of my demo's.
Current machine will move 4 bags no bother.
Had a go with the supposedly comparable demo.
4 bags = Lockout + a smirking driver.
Ok so i will do 2 bags, oh no you don't. Lockout + a now laughing driver.
Not to be beaten i lifted 1 bag down at a time till i had 4 bags together. Went to move them and guess what......LOCKOUT + the driver nearly fell off the wagon laughing.

Went and got my older machine then.

Bought a Manitou in the end, been grand.
Next one will either be Manitou or Merlo most likely.
JCB just too dear now.

You review above sounds just like the manitou we have just got rid of.
Parachute button the most used button on the machine.
Recalibration lasted a week then back to frustration.
Lads are loving the new Schaffer

Four bags you mean like this in my top picture (y)

The very bottom picture was my lockout test

I was looking for a secondhand machine for my first telescopic (wasn't bothered about make) but buying a Bobcat with 3 years warranty and 3 years interest free made more sense, now 5 years warranty & interest free I believe.

Get a demo and see what you think, my local dealership has sold over 70 and selling more now I believe.

Oh dear that's my cover blown with the neighbors :giggle:

If you are going to buy a more spurious brand make sure you like it and that it will still be capable of your job in 10/15 years so you don’t have to change it as often as residuals are a killer when they are in the 5-12 year old bracket. As soon as they get to 15-20 year old they are all worth roughly the same for self builds.
