Direct/Strip-till drilling photo gallery

What did you use to establish it?
no seriously
that old krm cultidisc drill that came out of suffolk
went straight in with spring tines taken out and and other tines lifted right up so just drill coulters
should of tickled it over to mix a bit of straw but was wanting all vol salad spuds to come up and it got left and left so sprayed it off and week later drilled it
it’s very fluffy when drilled and was in and out loads of times and looking if doing right , did half another field same and cultivated other half to see if any difference

Crusoe wheat into stripped linseed. Weaving gd.

It's definitely better with standing straw instead of a mat of chopped straw.

Winter beans (2 varieties) and oats together, following maize. Drilled with Metcalfe legs at 250 spacing. Due for combining and rolling together for cow mix. Beans drilled first deep, then oats. The drill dropped into the bean rows with the oats without trying. Drilled with GPS but not RTK.

Three varieties of winter barley, again after maize, Metcalfe legs.

Question ,badshot ,
if you direct drilled stubble turnips into chopped straw , instead of cultivating and mixing straw in ,
will straw take longer to break down if left on top ,and not use any nitrogen to break straw down , or does the barley straw have an 🤔alopethic effect on stubble turnips , or is it chem residue on straw holdin*bthem back , hiatus ,
thinking thick mat of spring barley straw and been dry st have just not grown
st on wheat stubble chopped have grown ok and not if any volenteers

I've no experience of barley as I don't grow it.
Others will have though.
I try not to comment on things which I don't have first hand experience of.

I'll try.

I'll get some of the wheat into tall spring oat stubble too when I'm nearby

Thank you for taking the time to post. I find this all very interesting, not the kind of thing one sees that much of in the deepest darkest west country.

The panacea of cutting cereals and linseed with a stripper header and not spending a lot of fuel cutting a crop or sowing one can't be far away.
