Finally got the CO going today
No liquid fert yet though just waiting on the reducers
Far side is DTS drilled for comparison
Hopefully should get the liquid sorted tomorrow so will finish field with liquid fert down the spout for comparison
It was an overwintered cover crop of oats phacellia and volunteer barley grazed off in March by sheep and sprayed off last week
Bit of moisture there before the rain.

Elyann oats emerged nicely. Sown by a Claydon Hybrid into a lightly dished stubble 8th April.View attachment 791814
The same crop and date sown by a Weaving GD into a sprayed off cover crop. The crop is a week further ahead of the field above. The two fields are 1/4 mile apart.View attachment 791816
Maybe I am totaly wrong or its just camera focuss būt in claydon picture looks much more germinated seeds than in gd drilled. Būt gd drilled germinated faster aprox 3 - 4days:whistle:

P. S. How many dogs You have:D

2 terriers. The Claydon was doing variable rate seed so that bit might look thinner. The GD crop was definitely thicker and further ahead.

Any reason why you didnt roll the GD crop, I have one field which has part oats and part SB in, I didnt roll the barley as it rained the night I drilled it and it looks as if it would have benefitted from rolling

I wanted to see if I could get away without rolling it but yes, I should have done it. There’s a bit of a slope in part of the field where one side of the drill left a bit of an open slot but it has grown ok.

Not really if I'm honest, nor for winter crops for that matter. Yes, 25cms. I expect there are some varieties that would be better than others, but I haven't been doing it long enough to find out. Only do bits with it as a cheap and cheerful experiment drill. Works well for rape though
