Does anyone have any recommendations of firms to use for the above please? Ive tried 2 insurers, but both will only cover 1 company with a policy, I’m looking to cover a 3-4 but being told it’s not possible. Thanks in advance.

I am not aware of any Insurer that will cover more than 1 company on a D & O policy. Because companies are all separate legal entities Insurers will always require separate policies.
Let me know if you find one because we would be quite happy to use them!

Hmmm. I'm currently pursuing a company with a single director for fraud, and finding the cards are very much stacked in the defendants favour as the law around LTD company 'insolvency' is a farce.
If the defendant had D&O insurance would he be able to use it to defend his fraudulent trading, or does it not cover the legal defence of illegal conduct?

All D & O Policies (and indeed all insurance policies) have a deliberate or dishonest acts exclusion written into their policy wording. I would not expect a D & O policy therefore to defend illegal/fraudulent conduct.
