Disco 4, Volvo XC90 or Skoda Kodiak

I have a Kodiaq as the family car, one of the first available over here, it has done 35k miles with no faults, save a battery failure due to VW group purchasing a load of shonky batteries, 7 seats, 190 hp, its not a towing vehicle, but is capable off road, in the snow etc, for a fraction of the price of a Volvo or Green oval product. I'm aready kitted out for towing (05 Landcruiser). Don't think the Kodiaq is outclassed by the others in their class but if you're comparing it to disco 4 then you are really comparing apples to oranges, I paid £28k for a brand new vehicle whan the equivalent Disco Sport was considerably more, i'm happy with it

2014 87,000 I don't drive like my grandmother would lol
That's not bad mileage, is that the first set of brakes/tyres its had, if it is well done. I expect 80-100k for brakes and 70k ish for tyres on my vehicles, and I don't hang around with my D2s.

How about a Kia Sorento, bought one for her self earlier this year it's a 2017 . I find I great to drive, not sure on fuel consumption or what it will be worth in a few years. But pretty happy with it so far.

Shame! I find the Audi drivers round here are pretty damn good at that..;)

Those Audis are so modern they don't have indicators. Instead they just have special sensors: pull out in front of them and they stop dead. That is why Audi drivers are so brain-dead- the steering wheel is slowly carving a dent in their forehead which exact excessive squeal to a halt.

I have exactly the same experience ! Love my D4. Going to be a tough act to follow.

Have a Kodiaq, can't beat it for value and I would dispute your assumption about depreciation Skoda cars are nothing like they were. Hold their value really quite well these days. The kodiaq has a following in the caravan fraternity.
Great family car, comfy to drive 2lt diesel with the auto box is smooth and quick enough for most people. bags of room for 5 and more room than most for 7. It isn't a Disco but the 4 wheel drive is good enough for slippery snow and greasy grass fields.

I've heard exactly the same things said about BMWs!

I’ve heard good things about the Kodiaq.

Friends have just done the whole car shopping thing with 4 children wanting an SUV.

They looked at the Kodiaq,Kia,X Trail, and Hyundai Santa Fe.

In the end they found the Santa Fe won on space in the boot with the seats in place.

They‘ve has it a few months and love it,the old model,a 17 plate and the reviews say the new model is even more refined.

I am no Skoda snob, we currently have a Superb which we bought new in 2014 and it has been absolutely faultless. But as mentioned above I am not that taken with the look of the Kodiak and if we are going to spend that sort of money I want to take some enjoyment from it.
Found a 2016 Disco 4 with 39000 miles full Land Rover service history and under their extended warranty until Mid Jan. The engine seized 6000 miles ago! So it has got a new engine put in by Land Rover under warranty. I have checked all this out with our local dealer and it all tally’s with the LR IT system - £23,750 getting tempted!!

Hang a fluffy dice from the rear view mirror to add a focal point of interest to the car. Add some leopardskin seat covers, turn up the volume to 11 on ZZ Top or Guns and Roses, and your blandness disappears completely. :woot:
Leopard skin seat covers.........match my underwear ?

We have a Yeti bought new in 2015 and the only thing that has ever needed replacing was the rear wiper motor (Under warranty).
