Horrific poor lad, reading his timeline, there is a comment from one of the officers who attended equally shocked at the carnage.

Pictures & Text. with credit to Tom Hadley, who approved the use of them here.

"26 dead lambs one dead dog one dog taken by police. 20 armed police, sas snipers 2 police helicopters and the bloke says my dogs wouldn't chase sheep. My profit gone for the year and the bloke is sat in his house with his feet up and a beer and give zero f**ks. It's hard enough to make farming pay but this just takes the pee."
Also added, they are still in the process of finding others this morning.

I wonder if placing the dead sheep in the owners garden may make him realise just what his dog is capable of. He'll certainly know by the time he's arranged for them to be removed!

Not a bad idea----dead sheep laid next to his dead dog in his front garden would make a sobering picture in the local press. And if done on a hot summers day all those flies and the stink of rotting flesh would at least make him unpopular with the neighbours
This is an increasingly common situation and we need greater powers to deal with it

The problem is, police are so keen to revoke certificates and confiscate guns, there is little direct action livestock owners can take without leaving themselves open to legal ramifications.

What dogs were they?
Not sure exactly Rhys but he breeds Rottweilers and a certain type of German shepherd, the dark coloured nasty looking ones that you see used for security. They are retired townies that have moved out here
Edit- the wife tells me he doesn't actually breed them but buys them to train. Either way it's not good.

Malinois by the look of them. Not German Shepherds, but a different type of continental herder.

That's a positive at least, they sound like they will have some money, so should be easy for the farmer to recover the cost of lost stock, and the cost of disposal.

Hopefully there will be a criminal prosecution as well.

After the "do" we had earlier this year(which pales into insignificance when compared to this) the police were reluctant to prosecute because it is what you say, a criminal offence rather than a civil offence. They would have prefered it if we had prosecuted privately. It turned out OK though 'cos the owner was scared to death about getting a criminal record and was keen pay the full cost.
This dog owner deserves to have the book thrown at him, I hope he gets a criminal record:mad:

The police wouldn't prosecute, even though it's a criminal offence? No wonder the RSPCA find it so easy to get a foothold...

What possible reason did the police give for not prosecuting? What a joke. "I won't be paying my council tax this year, as I'd prefer it if the police were privately funded."
