Hello everybody, my name is Craig Gaden from the Royal Agricultural University at Cirencester. I am in my final year at the university studying BSC Agriculture and Farm management and I’m writing my dissertation on “ How different sized farming business are changing their practices to cope with the withdrawal of the basic payment scheme and the introduction of the environmental land management scheme”. Good question @Craig Gaden , but since only a few of us have seen what the new scheme will look like, how will farmers know what to change. And the bits we have seen have no numbers next to them, so planning investment is impossible.

Quite agree, I gave up on the survey because as yet I know no details of what’s coming so can’t give an informed answer

One missing question was "what % of your net farm income/profit does BPS currently represent?"

The biggest factor effecting my profit every year is the weather. When do I even know whats coming ,

Weather and price I receive for what I sell are both out of my hands, all I can do is the best I can with the cards I’m dealt.
It usually works out not too bad.

Just had an invoice for £75,000 for straw and that's just one supplier .

there isn't.
Question 18. There either isn't enough choice s or an 'other' option in the 'already diversified into' column.
Renewables being an obvious one that could've been added.

What if I don't already do any of the things you ask?

What If I do things you haven't listed?

What if I used to do things you you list but stopped? (I had a gps guidance system but sold it as it was no longer useful)

The effectiveness of proposed ELMS question must include a "don't know" option.

Please make these changes and I'll have another go.
