DIY plastic sheep troughs?

It's a bit wet for ewe rolls still, so I need to knock some troughs up, and wondering about making them from twin wall drainage pipe. Is 225mm (8") suitable, or does it need 300mm for stability and allow sheep both sides?

That's what I use works fine tex screw wood on ends light weight and lasts

I will pop and get a couple of lengths tomorrow. What did you use to get the straight line for cutting, or did you get pipe with some printing on, to use as a guide?

You can get ready made plastic ends you just push on to cut twin wall to make troughs
JFC make them

Might be a wait on them though

Not seen just the ends! I know they do the ready made troughs. But only seem to have the 300mm at Dealers, so they are costly.

I got them from mole valley but they were ordered in from JFC
The ends would probably out last several changes of the twin wall pipe

@steveR on the outside of the pipe there’s a manufacturing line perfectly all the way along the centre....run your diamond blade along it

I think when I cut mine there was a faint line right down the length of them from when they were made that you can use as a guide for cutting them.

have you any tractor rear tyres about? split them in two, then you have two circular troughs (and it saves the £70 or whatever to dispose of them)

Interesting. But heavy old sods to be moving about manually I suspect!!

Blue would be water... usually.

Water pipe 1s are heavy but unbreakable.

Gas Axe, a hose on standby, and a healthy disregard for your own safety!
I split one in 2 last year , but the other way, to act as lamb shelters in the field. Works a treat. Even doing it with the big grinder was exciting enough !
