Do any of you wear high sided ( 8”+)leather boots through the winter months,?

Live in AltBerg Defenders, year round. Although I see they've (MOD requirements) stopped using speed lace hooks and now use loops right to the top of the boot so I've probably bought my last pair for working in.

No issues in winter. Tuck the bottoms of my jeans into the boots as I lace up, then waterproof trousers/bib & brace keeps me clean and dry. The ankle support and comfort is worth the extra hassle of laces.

I've always worn high leg boots but there are some things you just have to wear wellies for.
If you're taking then off more than once a day it's a pain to lace them back up again plus your trousers get the works.

Spend money on decent comfortable boots and equally on decent comfortable wellies.
I have no problems spending more money on work boots than any other footwear. I'm in them more than anything else.
This is the issue more than anything else for me. Your trousers get lagged in sh1t and you have to take them as well off when you come inside. Boots for me as long as possible but winter Yard work means wellies

I have a new pair with the eyelets to the top and I reckon they are quicker to put on and take off thank the lace hooks. Just tie a knot in the end of the laces so then you can pull them loose and the laces don't pull through the eyelets

It's the pulling the laces loose enough to get the boot off would be the issue, from experience - especially the cross over the top of the foot/bottom of leg.

I had a pair of boots with eyelets right up before I got onto the Defenders and they were an arse

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
