Domestic wind turbines

Thinking about getting a Tesla wall battery anyway for Solar .. just that in Winter Solar sucks so was looking at small wind as an alternative .. but I believe that also sucks.

Looked last night I have one head at 8 metres with a 12 inch pipe probably 1/3 to 1/2 full in winter.
Thats more than enough for a useful output. I normally use 100mm (4 inch) pipe but the trick to power is to exclude air like on the self starting toilet cisterns. Put your 12 inch pipe into an IBC container and you have your own mini reservoir. From that you can run multiple 100mm pipes to automatically adjust output with flow. Take a look at the 2 and 4 pipe stream engines for ideas.

What is a stream engine?

This explains what a stream engine is.

Very handy for stealth installations and can use similar inverter systems to domestic solar. Originally came in 1kw units so for a 4kw system you just had multiple units and turned them on and off depending on water available. Very cheap but surprisingly well made.

Now theres no FITs do small scale turbines stack up now?

Got a 4kw solar on the house which works well bar this time of year when it hasn't done 1.5kwh today but the wind has been blowing well and got me thinking a 5kw turbine would do well!
Isn't very often we dont have sun or wind?

Would there be such a thing as a second hand turbine out there?
No! End of.
