Double yellows on farm drive?

Our farm drive frontage is quite wide, but the council road is quite narrow. From one direction in a HGV you need the full width of the drive to swing into the yard. Problem is, people (visitors, reps, Dad) like to park just where the unit needs to go when turning in.

Has anyone any experience of putting double yellows, or visitors parking bays etc? My gut feeling is people will ignore both of them. Are there any other solutions?

Had a similar problem and found no parking signs were a good reminder, especially as I copied the council signs and then they looked official. Don’t tell anyone as there is bound to be some law but it worked. Otherwise a few strategically placed flower pots/tubs often can make it awkward for parking Ie just too tight to make it easy to park there.

probably all of little help though!

Flower pots wouldn’t be any help unfortunately, had someone yesterday parked so far from the edge of the drive I could have parked another car between it and the fence!

I'm getting used to hijacking threads today but I think it's relevant. We have a fairly wide splay to our farm drive and there Is going to be a compound for roadworks (water mains renewal) in the neighbours field gateway opposite. I appreciate everyone has to get along and that the works need to be done so there is no objection from me. What I am worried about is our entrance being used as a turning point and 'quick' parking for the gaffers etc. The main road will be closed apparently. My thinking is giving an inch, wrecked verges, damaged road and fences driven into Etc.

what would fellow members do in this situation? I'm thinking a concrete block in the Center line of our drive to enable cars access etc but no waiting or lorry turning. Is it reasonable to expect the water company to pay for this?

had that issue where i am they put up no parking signs an someone came along an nicked them, it on the side of a main road an people use it as a layby right pain in the arse

I was going to do that.......and the Police threatened to arrest me! This was despite the fact it was private land and I was trying to get the straw led in.
Police in the wrong there if private land
Always a rope when moving combine to drag anything in way out of way not to bothered about knocking a few wing mirrors of either for the pansies who can’t park

£100 mot failure off eBay, smash in 1 side of it with the loader, then leave it in the affected area, ideally beneath a “no parking” sign. ?

@RWG Contracts has a way of working round badly parked cars, made me chuckle.

Putting a new industrial unit on an existing yard at the moment.

this morning asked the other tenants to “could you park somewhere else please we need to get in with digger to pull, foul, electric, water and gas need through.”

The owner of one white fiesta said I park there everyday you’ll have to work around me

don’t worry John, we did
