You would need a lifetime guarantee to spend that kind of money.Wow! I've just seen the price of those RM Williams boots. £350!
I thought I was extravagant with my Ariats.

don t worry you will be fine ...............No, sir! they are the only smart boots I have, which aren't kilt brogues or suit shoes.
So they sortof pick themselves for any 'smart' occasion!!
I'm leaving for the train in 15mins, not a Scooby what else I'm wearing! Time to find a clean, least crinkled, shirt...

I bought a pair of these by Fit For Purpose (got them on Amazon).
I originally got them just for nipping into town, or going to the local pub in... they are slightly military inspired, but go over them with some polish and put on a smart pair of jeans or chinos and they look the part for going to YF dances or anything of the likes. So much so, im wearing them out in Edinburgh tomorrow night
Not even £40 IIRC and they are the comfiest boots iv owned for wearing as good (work boots are more comfy, but I couldn't go on the pull in them ).
I have had a pair of `anatomic` boots for 5 years and they are still very serviceable. They look quite delicate, but don't be deceived. They are extremely well made using high quality leather. There big, big plus is they are so comfortable - like wearing a pair of slippers outside. I find them ideal for ag shows, holidays (they weigh very light) and general going out. Ideal for driving in too. You wouldn`t do the 3 peaks challenge in them though.
just a thought - top side of £100 as a guide.
What do you mean by dress boots?
Something from Dune will fit the bill for a formal event but will be a no no in military circles.

Beware leather soles- they don't like repeated wet/dry- like when you are getting out of the car at home, get the local cobbler to stick a plastic sole over the forefoot bit to protect it. You'll wear through it in no time else.
You will need to keep anything of this calibre polished and looked after, the leather is not the same stuff that you will find in a pair of dealer boots you got from MVF.
You won't get much change from £100 for proper gentlemen's shoes I'm afraid.
You must be joking, you obviously have no idea of the cost of "proper" gentlemans shoes

I don't dwell in the circles of grain traders or consultanty types. Look a bit poofy for my taste as well.
Consultancy types etc are often new money. They sometimes lack an appreciation and understanding of true class, style and value.
Quality footwear that is well looked after can have a surprisingly long life. Buy in traditional styles that do not date and you will often receive excellent value for money that will far surpass run of the mill cheap alternatives.
In my experience quality footwear has proved to be money well spent.
Class is about aspiration as opposed to background as I am sure you can appreciate, and I am not about to take style tips from you even if you are the ag equivalent of Gok Wan I'm afraid.
Enjoy your £450 shoes, no doubt they blend in well in NFU and similarly big wig circles, and go down a hoot in Brighton on a weekend but I have a smile which would serve just as well and is considerably cheaper.
Never been to Brighton, what's it like?
