Been the eternal optimist today and put another dose on the Barley & Wheat that has yet to emerge, hoping that the YR forecast of rain Wednesday doesn't disappear.

I even treat this to another 250kg/ha of Axan, if it hadn't been so dry I might not have continued with this experiment, but as it is, at least its growing, unlike some of the drilled stuff

In other news, the accountant seems to think I can Furlough myself and MrsAdeptandy as the Plumbing business has temporarily stopped, can't quite get my head around that one, but he seems convinced

Laureate spring barley drilled 8th of April has pretty much all emerged, considering it’s not had any rain on it I’m quite pleased. Looks much better than the winter barley it replaced anyway.

Looks well for no rain , we had 2 weekends of rainfall ,,,,,,, 7 mm followed by 9 mm , on the whole I have to be pleased with my lot , tho I would say that the red marl banks are doing what red marl excels at and resembling a desert , although the barley sown in the first few days did make the most of the moisture that was still in the marl and has got away but the last week of barley drilling it had lost the moisture in the profile and thus struggled , it was a fine line between being patient to let the ground dry out to carry the tractor but not to let it dry out to much.
One crop which I'm disappointed with is my direct drilled spring barley , it's up in row but has just not got the get up and go compared to crops drilled at the same time , needs to get its finger out tbh

We have a Fulbourn in the county
Now in sad decline, apparently.

"Fulbourn at one point had as many as 10-11 public houses, one for every 120 inhabitants at the time. These included:
  • The Plough and Crown, renamed, from 1776, The Six Bells (extant)
  • The Harrow Inn, closed 1911
  • The Coach and Horses, closed 1902
  • The Railway Tavern
  • The Royal Oak
  • The Loyal Townley
  • The Ancient Shepherds (1880s to 1920)
  • The Rising Sun, closed c.1956
As of 2018, the village had three public houses:
  • The Six Bells
  • The White Hart
  • The Hat and Rabbit (known prior to May 2018 as The Bakers Arms)
  • Banks Grain own and operate a large grain and rice silo adjacent to the railway line."
