Actually we were ploughing in failed OSR but for reasons of keeping my sanity I like to call it my cover crop not OSR .

Drilling....?

Just!

Plough & combi territory for us now, have a second rigged up as well. Trying to plough down spud mess post all rain-running/ponding etc.

Passable....

400 acres after this-if it does not dry sometime in November-it just is not going to happen, as it is worked well, but worked. May try & plough back up to get some slab to drive on-decent ground-where big dose Roundup flex has left red leathery OSR stalled from 6th September! Clear ground-go straight in.

To sum up, in hands of weather-though looking forward to the last 85 acres of beet-as that will be a doddle in comparison! If beaten will get 55% in, rest will go spring wheat if necessary-which I have. Many east & west of here done(next to) nothing.

Not having a pop but I do wonder what it's like underneath when these steam rollers have been over it. Must be more forgiving than our soils. Do these rigs get the wheelings out or just scuffle some squadd over them?
Maize ground was ploughing up quite nicely. Still got heavier stuff that you can’t go near yet

Another selection from today.only about 9 inches of topsoilover clay and been subsoiled before ploughing.really soggy and wet and worse after it poured for 10 mins but I was determined to finish it.worst conditions I’ve ever drilled and headlands even worse and rutted.at least the seed is buried.last picture having to wash the drill again after soil blocking between roller and coulter bar.luckily only one blocked disc all day.must have washed the drill a dozen times this year aswell as digging it out and piles of soil all round yard.only barley to go and lighter land and not rolled.end is in sight.

Managed to walk over a field of land ploughed, power harrowed and rolled six weeks ago. Could maybe drill it at the weekend if it blows some more.
My sister near to you, said they actually managed to plant some strawberries with the machine, not by hand, today.
Bro in law hasn’t drilled anything else though.

Yesterday I managed to plough the last few acres of a heavy field I got rained off in last week

Hopefully I can get this drilled tomorrow.

Then moved into another field which can be a bit tricky, it's old meadow ground and can stick to even slated boards like snot to a blanked some years but this year it ploughed up well. It always seems to me that ground always seems better after osr.

@Nick we missed the rain, it looked bad about and I thought we were going to cop it when I headed home to get the drill at 2.30.

Glad some are getting drilled up but it's so frustrating that we can't turn a wheel. You start questioning your own judgement for when to go, but I am still fairly certain it's not dry enough yet. No neighbour's going either.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
