Drilling anyone?

Managed to plough a field on the frost this morning. Very sticky once the frost had gone, but persevered. This is the better side if the field and the bit that would drill , but the rest isn’t good enough and I don’t think drilling in December is any use. It’ll take weeks to come up and the crows will have a field day. Better drilled in March now .

Not drilling but ventured out with Bateman today and yes its sticky (now frost is out) but not as bad as you would think. Ps this is only on DTS drilled stuff.

Few people drilling on the Yorkshire wolds and the chalk on the south side of the Humber bridge but it’s light land on chalk so if they cannot go no one will

Might try the Vaddy (empty) for a couple of bouts straight on top of the ploughing tomorrow to see what happens. Ground fairly settled as has been ploughed since September ?

not adjusted yet - will set up in the field as we always do, bit of a road journey first

Always makes me think when we go to the in-laws at Christmas. We cannot do anything but there is great swathes on the way to the Lake District getting plastered even in the frost and snow but not in the nvz.

They don't need nvz's up there as there aren't enough house holds pouring tons of washing powder down the drain causing the high phosphate levels in the water like in the south of the country.

Got as far as I could with the flexicoil but it started to fill with soil in a place or to so I sent someone of to fetch the lemken press which was 6 miles away I jumped on the drill and tickled a bit more in while I waited.

Theres been a decent dry out today. The ground was hazing off quite nicely for the time of year.

It's been muddy here since about 1200 when the frost came out. I think frost is more a hindrance tbh.

Key here is to try and get off before it come out otherwise it sticks like the proverbial to a blanket but still too sloppy to have a go
