I was there yesterday with my young son.Thoughts and sympathies to Michael Aynsley and family from the Lee/Wardshill Rothbury whose 1200 breeding flock of North Country Cheviots and stock tups were featured in the video. They were a tremendous trade, making well into the £200s/head.His son died last week after suffering a stroke, aged only 57,and previously they had already lost one of their daughters aged 16,to leaukemia. His funeral is today,i think.R.I.P. Paul.

Several people have asked me why I chose Hans Zimmer's awesome music from Intertellar for our video.

Several reasons:
The film featured several scenes of Combine Harvesters working.
The lead part of Cooper featured him first as a farmer, then an astronaut.

Then I came across this video of how Chris Nolan (Director) asked Hans Zimmer to write a short piece of music for his film, without telling him what the film was actually about. He asked Zimmer to write some music about a father's feellings for his son, which turned out to be a daughter!

You need to watch this amazing video to find out more about it:

So, to me this amazing music is just perfect for our video.

Some from a tractor run at the weekend organised by Claas Eastern Catfoss, these were taken along the clifftops near Barmston where we stopped for a quick break. Taken with a DJI Mavic Pro, shot in RAW format to edit in Lightroom. This was my first proper flight with the Mavic, the camera, and handling of the drone in wind is nowhere near as good as my Inspire 1 was but I can fold this up and take it in the tractor on a demo with me. My tractor is the baby 211 Fendt!

@Two Tone I believe you have a bebop2? Would you recommend it as a useful entry -level drone for farming, checking livestock etc?

Do you need any extra kit beyond what's in the box, screen, batteries, cards etc? And what is the approx cost?

TIA

Yes. I’d go for the bebob2 plus skycontroller and I might want the original skycontroller rather than the latest type. But look at both before you decide which to buy.

The only extra thing you’ll need is a tablet like an iPad or iPad mini, which you attach to the skycontroller to see what it is filming.

The skycontroller uses the same battery as the drone. Each battery last 25 minutes on the drone. So after 22 minutes, swap them over to get about 45 minutes of total flight.

£550 to £650.

what type of cameras are on the drones, i take its comes with a built-in camera, some really good clear pictures on here.
The Bebop2 is a flying camera, I.e. it is built in the drone.
I think the DJI needs a separate go pro camera, which makes it quite a lot more expensive. However, the quality of the filming will be better.

But for what farmers need, the Bebop is way more than good enough for a lot less money.

We used a Bebop for filming post #26

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
