There will be a lot more like that soon even some of mine on the lighter bits is starting to go off and we have had plenty of rain (had 30mm not a fortnight ago)

I think this week will start to hurt stuff as you go out and about. We have had just short of 40mm since May 1 and locally I know of places with less as they missed the storms etc. I was talking to someone from Essex and he said there last rain was late May.

We have had 56 mm since June 1st

Talking to someone else in the vale of York and they have had less than 25mm since May 1
Neither really just very pleased we got some but this heat and dry is starting to hurt with the shallow roots they have got this year

You’re right. An inch of gentle rain now would mean very good yield potential for us I think, but an inch of rain next weekend would not have the same effect I’m afraid, crops are at the turning point here. Hey ho.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
