Drought

12" of rain here in March and it rained this morn,no fear of a drought in Lancs.

Only 18mm here since the 1st March. 23C yesterday, great for golf, not so good for crops on light land!

reminds me of 2007.bugger all in march and april.the rain started in mid may and we had over 100mm in each month may june and july.
it was a pretty rubbish harvest for us.

As the environment agency have let all the water out of the main ditches yes we are in a drought situation.

Yes, it's dry. Not worried yet - just dont want it to avergae out by raining all June, July, August and September.

I would say we arnt far from drought here, all ditches are empty or running low, everything looks well but if it rained a few mm every night and was a bright sunny day every day for a month it would be perfect!

Very dry here now. We are getting mildly concerned that it might well be another 1976 in the offing. If so we're going to be feeding cattle at grass by mid summer.

weve had less rainfall this winter but no excess wind or sun to evaporate it ,in fact its been so cloudy that this last few days of sun has seen a dramatic benefit to crops. For a while we couldnt get on with any fert or spraying cos it wouldnt travel so water table reasonable on our medium to heavy patch. As yet not panicking as crops and grass look well and well rooted if a little forward which usually means less in yield but we will see its a bit too soon for speculating

Winter crops fine at present here. Spring crops struggling. Very patchy emergence. Guessing we have a fortnight before the uneven spring germ causes real problems. My forecast says <1mm between now and May. [emoji31]

Pretty bad here, lots of land ploughed late and in bad order, the wind and sun has really sapped the moisture so the lucky ones who cracked on have beet up but everything else will just sit there waiting. Some later drilled barleys will really struggle. Irrigators going about.

Pretty worried here, hot spots are now starting to show and no meaningful rain forecast.

Winter cereals will soon be grateful for a drink here, ploughed land for Spring crops that was a pudding underneath is now resembling desert conditions on top, to drill or not is the question, emergence will be patchy at best!
