Torrential downpour last night, hammering on my Velux windows.

Dad been away for a couple of weeks and I haven't emptied his rain gauges for a week or more, @Sonoftheheir will doubtless confirm exact totals?!

There was a serious amount of lightning at about midnight in the distance. BBC was talking about light rain possible. Woke up at 4.30 and the grass was dry so went spraying thinking nothing more of it.

Checked my FB this morning and Cambridge had these with torrents of water running down the street:
