Dual wheels on an auto level Combine.

Has anyone on here used dual wheels on a “hillmaster“ , “Montana” auto level type combine?

The handbook will say no, but I wondered if anyone had used them.

Think you would have problems. When going across a hill on the uphill side of the combine all the weight would be on the dual wheel. You would need some very heavy duty rims on the original wheels and the duals.

American ones tend to be chassis levelling, rather than the way the hillmaster/montana/paralevel machines work, where the wheels stay parallel to the body, so duals wouldn't work on European style machine without causing some damage, would be much better off going for wider tyres.

As @jamesfalky says. This is the American system. The wheels stay parallel with the slope were as the European system the wheels keep vertical.

Wouldn't work with montana the top duel would be taking all the weight when going along side hills and bottom duel doing nothing !

My old 7278 Al Massey had dual wheel lugs on it from it's previous owner, quite a few were sheared off so I guess it wasn't very successful.

Have a set of step down duals 18.4 tyres which went on an 800/32 combine wheel for sale. Sat on concrete the duals hardly touched the ground but helped a lot in the field on our banks - only downside was getting up onto the step ! combine was a TF78.
