Dust storms

Looking down towards the River Clwyd at Rhuddlan and there have been clouds of dust blowing all morning off acres of maize fields; God knows how many tonnes of soil have been blown out to sea! Never seen it before and quite frightening to witness!

It's blowing a gale here today in Scotland with heavy showers, so the dust has settled, had a guy sown 12 acres of grass yesterday morning, the ground was nearly to sticky after a 20 minute heavy shower but got it done OK in the end. Very stormy weekend forecast.

Who would have thought in early March . I saw cloads of dust near Banbury today coming off Potato ground Separators

I looked out of the window this morning and wondered whose fields would be blowing away today.

Just had to rescue my poly tunnel as it was thinking about taking off.

Remember my time on a station in Broken hill, had a few dust storms then, i loved them (they were a new phenomenon to me) but the boss hated them with a passion.
Unfortunately part of nature for that part of the world.

The pictures remind me very very much of the "Haboob" or dust storms that are a regular occurance in The Sudan.

Beet on the sand here was looking pebble dashed, but not as bad as a field of maize about 2 miles away that was moving well... Could hardly see through the dust when doing some fencing...!

Been like a haze all day round here, never seen it picking up soil like it has been today! Considering we got 4 and half mm or rain last night as well it’s definitely not dampened the dust.

(It’s not one of my fields blowing away?)
