Ear tags and pet sheep

After some advice as a novice sheep owner and learning fast! I have been given 4 adult sheep - 2 x ewes 2 x whethers and also have 2 x 6 wk old lambs. I need such a small number of ear tags - all the DEFRA approved ear tag suppliers to print herd number but the minimum number is over 100 and the same for EIDs. Is there anyway of self numbering tags? sorry I'm a novice its all quite new to me. One ewe has two tags already so I can log her but the others have none. Shearwell will sell you any number you want. Number of tags that is not any old number written on the tag

They should really have been tagged by whoever gave them to you.

You will need a CPH number and a flock number of your own to be able to order tags.

As Frodo says, they should have been tagged already. You really need to go back to the person you got them from and get him to come and tag them with his tags. And make sure they're properly recorded as being moved onto your holding.
Failing that, you might be able to apply for replacement tags with the same flock number as the ewe that has tags but they will still need to have been recorded as moving onto your place.

If the lambs were born with you, you will need your own tags for them, though.

Thanks I'll try them - I have my herd number to go on identity tag with dob of lambs - from what I've read i can add a digit to identify each of my sheep by number? cheers

We're the lambs born on your holding?
As said they should be tagged with the flock number of holding of birth.
Anything that is intended to be kept beyond 12 months of age should be double tagged with an individual number on it as well as flock number.
