If people are still willing to invest 1.5mill, when eggs are 75p/doz (and they are) it will be a long time before we get back to the good days.

I think it's a combination of, a proven production system, looking at historic figures, cheap finance and a lack of faith in other options. Oh and packers still recruiting.

Thing is if these same sheep farmers looking to diversify were to invest 1.5million in sheep, you would have a serious unit, only have to work 3 weeks at lambing and a few days making sure the lambs go through the autodrafter. Might need a bit more land.

The building might cost 1.2million, but you also have to buy pullets (£128000) and 2months feed (£56000), as well as running costs, which will take your total spend up to 1.5 mill, before you get your first payment of £160 for a couple of pallets of 2nd grade eggs.

We get paid a flat rate, never crossed 75p a dozen in Ten years, so don't really notice this slump in prices,
