Harrow is needing some new tines, mainly used for harrowing horse paddocks and haylage ground. 7mm and 8mm tines available, which is better? 7mm tines are more expensive for some reason, I thought 8mm would be better?
7mm are possibly made of higher grade spring steel to stop them snapping. Don't expect you'll notice much difference in quality of work. Got a new one coming this week and it's on 8mm out of the factory.
I would recommend spending a few extra pennies and getting genuine 8mm einbock tines
Fitted a seta few years ago from a well known company who's name rhymes with scalding. They didn't do many acres compared to the set that replaced them
8mm will probably suit you best. We bought our current one for veg and arable crop weeding and had 7mm tines for that job as they oscillate more. 8mm are more commonly used for grassland.
Thanks guys. 8mm is usually what I carry as spares. Had a few snap last year so decided this year I’d just replace the lot. Only a 12ft set of harrows, horse paddocks give them a pounding tho due to the poaching in gateways
