Electric tractor (a bit small!)

I watched this on countryfile. As I have a 35hp kioti; this really interests me. I think autonomy may be smaller than larger, but what size and scale will depend on the market. The fact that there is one, is great, but I think within the next 5 years, I hope we will see some interesting advances. If you can create electricity, then it really is a no brainer??

I think a electric scraper tractor would be a good start to evaluate the concept .Then maybe one on a feeder / loader tractor for yard work :)
I fancy it for a scraper tractor as well, but would have to fit a bit of a canopy to keep the seat dry in winter. Will have to see if they will do a demo

You know county file shows stuff nothing to do with farming, i am afraid most of you see only how wonderful electric stuff is, first off i pulled an old loader tractor along the yard in 1973 with an electrak 32v and the drive belt was squealing no gears but could pull several small trailers of loaded bricks for the same amount of time 5hrs this new can, unless the electric power is supplied by solar where will it come from, i know from a power socket, it will in future have to come from nuclear power stations that will mean leaving a legacy of radioactive contamination waste for future generations, take no notice of what so called eggspurts tell you, that is a fact, also as with the cars how long will the batteries last, erm, how many times can they be re-charged,erm, how much will they cost along with labour to replace, erm, and if it will run for 5hrs wait till winter then find out, ok on concrete but what about wheelslip on mud, erm,

Car battery warranties are now generally 8 years, there are plenty of folks with over 400,000 miles on a battery - how many do that on a car engine and gearbox?
Nuclear is totally outpriced by renewables at present, it is the wrong technology - it should be molten salt thorium reactors which are intrinsically safe and very low radioactive waste.

Got to have a demo of the tractor today. Tried it on the slurry scraper, it could do with about 200 kg more lift on the linkage arms. There was plenty of drive power, nice to drive but needs a cab for British weather. It is an interesting start, we are looking forward to the next size up being available. Thanks to Glen from Fentons of Bourne for bringing it out to us.
