It ought to be cheap at the moment. I suspect some others on here who are generators , I had a letter the other day offering me a payment to turn my solar off, as there is currently too much power in the system.
They always say its going to get more expensive.Sign up now or lose eleventy hundred pounds per year.

I've built an Excel spreadsheet that instantly gives you the bottom line on quotes - quick enough to use during a phone call with a supplier. Happy to forward this to anybody who might want to use it - just send me an email address. Electricity only.

I made a spreadsheet last year after getting sick of having to recalculate quotes all the time with improved offers from different companies. They all like to quote in slightly different ways. Spreadsheet cuts through the fog. Imdo, like a spreadsheet lol.

Really struggled to get quotes in March, no doubt due to lockdown. I gave up trying some suppliers with the endless queuing times. We don't use anything like as much leccy as we used to so it's not worth spending several hours over. Got signed up with Opus on a 3 year. 13.5p day and 9.6p night.

"Renewal" prices are always hilarious. It's just the default rate for people who can't be @rsed to pick up the phone. It's never a serious price. Every company does it.

I don't understand this practice!!

I complained to the bank about this when our home insurance renewal came through, like 120 quid increase on last year. Rang up saying this was out of order- a few percent increase in like with RPI would have been fine. Woman then arbitrarily reduced it to the point where it was 7 quid increase on the year before. I asked why they were wasting my and their own time insisting I rang around for renewal quotes when I would have not even bothered for a 20 quid increase on last year? She totally agreed and I told her to point my suggestion in the marketing manager's earhole... no problem Sir, this is all recorded and will be reviewed at a later date! It gave me a little chuckle to think a recording of me foaming at the mouth would be played some management meeting lol. I didn't use any profanity but I did think of Clive when speaking- won't do any business with your bank ever again etc etc...

Be careful that you are not being quoted for electricity alone. You may get a nasty surprise if they haven’t added in the green levy and a few other levies that can stick another 2p/kWh on the bill
And also to get a good price they insist on direct debit, that way they can over charge you monthly and be several hundred pounds in credit. Scottish power were holding £600 of mine in credit and debiting the usual amount every month.(n)
