Engine recondition firm recommendations ????

I live in mid wales and there is a firm about 12 miles away that do boring and any other engine work needed but I have heard of unhappy customers so I would like some names of firms that have happy customers.
I am prepared to go anywhere in Wales or Shropshire or even Midlands to get my engine bored.
And I am not looking for cheapest either TIA.

Billcar precision engineering in Battlefield Shrewsbury, good but expensive!

And a poor job could render your engine scrap ..... Just make sure they are prepared to warranty their work.

Always a good idea to get the completed re-conditioning of an engine (and re-fitting if possible) on one invoice otherwise any problems get blamed on the "Other Party" !

Used a chap with a mobile boring machine, came from Birmingham, did an excellent job of overboring, pressing sleeves in, hone and deck and not expensive either. Was concerned re swarf getting into the engine as we did it in situ but no issues at all. This was done 4 years ago and has been no trouble at all since. I can try and find his number if you would like?

Used to be a firm swiftfree engineering in shrews, sold out to Billcar. one of the swiftfree engine lads was still operating a recon buisness somewhere around Oswestry.
I will ask father in the morning.

@leone75 not local but if its a Perkins, CAT or cummins he is your man and will probably have something ready to go (y)

I am afraid I don't share the enthusiasm about Billcar. It was machining on a dipper arm boss. They had two goes as the job they did to start with was crap. Had to have it redone 1000 hrs later by somebody else. Used to use Dudley eng center, Westley Street. They were/are good but not sure if they are still there.

Thanks for message but poston are the firm I referred to at start, although local there are mixed reports about
Work quality
I have also ruled out billcar because of
Unhappy customer here
But I will be seeking advice here on how to fix badly worn front axle pin

Typical me, forgot all about this

Yeah thats my uncle George, he and Val are still out there, loving thier retirement and the wine no doubt :ROFLMAO:

The lad is martin James, mj engineering, 01691610677 he's on rednal industrial estate. Mainly into cars but he still does the odd tractor/industrial engine.

I do seem to remember seeing the swiftfree sponsored car as a kid, can't remember where. Anyway If you check out his FB page there's some serious rally spec, and engine noise videos on there (y)

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
