No problems with penetration with 24 row even in dry going,now have 800kg of weights on 32row plus weight of drill plus seed so now need a ton on the front to keep her down on banks.

Either drill is fine and as aforementioned it’s down to the man using it correctly and setting the machine up to suit each individual field conditions.

Anybody try drilling wheat into maize stubble as a cover crop with an erth. Going to give it a go on 4 or 5 acre just to see.

It will work , the machine won’t block , put a bit of hydraulic pressure on it and it will be fine , lift up the tines at the back if they are dragging too much.

The one I went to look at had why I don't know maybe it was to uproot dead grasses or level uneven ruts ,I think Denis recommend s it but I stand corrected

It’s a new add on this year , it will create a bit more loose soil , in loose soil if you keep it up it will blow out seed in a wide row , I sowed some like this and the row of seed was 5 cm wide .

How practical is the rear packer, I imagine if drilling into a tacky stubble it might block? Can you remove it without consequence to the depth control?

Which drill - Erth don't use a packer
Ours came without a front rake , which may have been a mistake as I could have put that down hard infront of the disk
I've tried running a tine harrow over first but not sure about the outcome as it tends to leave blobs of dead grass about

Packer/roller on the Erth agriseeder. They have one on all the marketing material.

They have a flat roller - not seen one as I normally understand as a packer . Seen a Moore with a packer on

You could not work without it , it has a cleaner scraper to keep it clean in sticky conditions . It keeps the machine at the right depth.
