Estrumate Timing and Dexadreson

I have bought some heifers off a neighbour who has now told me that some are in calf due to a rig running with them. The most forward is 12 weeks according to the Vet with most still empty.
Vet has suggested jabbing them with Estrumate in 4 weeks and also with Dexadreson.

I have used Estrumate in the past with reasonably good results (one still calved!) Never heard of using Dexadreson which is a steroid at the same time.
Is this a belt and braces approach using the Dexadreson at the same time?

I use Dexadreson for ketosis, and also as an appetite stimulant if a cow looks like it's on its way to an LDA.
I know it will make a pregnant cow abort, but my vet has never suggested it in conjunction with estrumate. Probably is belt and braces 🤷‍♀️

Not sure if it was dexadreson , i just called it the "steriod" but have asked the vet in the past to use it with estrumate because estrumate on its own hasnt always worked and it always works using both.

If its too far on estrumate wont work, it gets rid of the bit of the ovary maintaining the pregnancy. If the foetus is developed enough it maintains itself which is when you'd need the steroid.

Estrumate alone is not 100% reliable but used in conjunction with a steroid will get the job done it’s what our vets use all the time
