Dear all,

I am a student at the University of Nottingham completing my Undergraduate Dissertation on the effect of the neonicotinoid ban on OSR growers in Central England. I would appreciate any and all responses to my survey below and any feedback / other comments to my email [email protected].

Many thanks,

Freya

The issue with no neonics is that we cannot now grow osr or linseed with any degree of certainty that we will harvest a crop so will not be growing these flowering crops
the biggest losers will be the insects that need early nectar in April
bees build up their colonies in the spring so they can multiply their numbers
no early nectar is similar to a cold late spring which also reduces the insect no’s

I would gladly participate in this survey but am well out of the target area. I echo Yellow Belly's comments. Bees and other pollinators will be the biggest losers as a result of the neonic ban. That's what the unintended consequences will be. Hey ho.

I concur with yellow belly and Brisel. After an autumn of flea beetle devastation our OSR crop we will probably stop growing it and change our rotation. This can only be a bad thing for the bee population.Banning neonics is a policy decision of the madhouse.

I thought many of the Eurozone countries had allowed an extension of Neonic use, especially on beet this spring ? One rule for them,a different one for us!
