Do EU subs help farmers produce cheap food?

What is wrong with my last sentence? In a free trade agreement with agricultural produce included in free trade you will not be able to compete, do you honestly think you can? I would like to know how.

You insinuated our producers are not efficient , come and look .

When you live in a country the size of the UK but with only1/16 th of the population it is a bit hypocritical to start criticising our immigration policies.
I am not criticising at all just stating a fact. I have re read my post several times and cannot for the life of me see why you would think it is critical, why are you all so uptight?

Did I? Where did I state that your producers were inefficient? Your whole agricultural supply chain is a complete and utter mess with no co ordinated marketing structure in place, that does not mean that the seperate parts of it are inefficient.
Thanks for the invite to come and have a look, I come over to the UK every couple of years

And I am disputing the suggestion that EU nationals are welcome here. They were not (at least in rural areas). The visible change occurred almost immediately after the referendum. Disengaging after many years of family life here is not easy. It still leaves the question were the British just pretending all this time?
Try and find one country in the workd apart from the usa that has as many different nationalities living for the most part quite happily together. In her case load in a small market tiwn my wife has 17

Not bitter at all, why do you think that? What moving does do if give you a broader mind set, it also increases your sense of humour, try it sometime. The comment you reacted to was intended to be humorous, it was also para phrased from an ex NZ Prime Minister.
I did enjoy @caveman reply. Touche

Haha.
When Kiwis went to Aus looking for work, the IQ of both countries increased?

The problem you have is your population is too small and spread too thinly for farmers to benefit from alternative uses of land, property, energy and inputs.

With the correct politics UK farming should do well ..

Your stretching it a bit to blame the EU for that one, Most European countries have a well run efficient supply chain, the fu¢k up in the UK supply chain is all home made.

Robert Muldoon. Valedictory speech.

"There was a lady walking down the pavement and, as we passed, she stopped. She said, “I know you, don’t I?” I said, “My name’s Muldoon”. “You’re not related to that barsteward in parliament are you?” And, on that salutary note, Mr. Speaker, I say good-bye."

A small population can be an advantage, particularly when we have a climate like ours that enables us to grow most things, What other benefits and alternative uses should we be looking for?

JCB are the only one I can think of at the mo .

All the cars firms are foreign except Aston . all the utilities .
.
as has been pointed out several times this is an agricultural Forum, my point was purely aimed at the agricultural sector.
The sticking point for most free trade deals is agriculture, TPP being as case in point, the EU will look after its farmers, UK less likely to, therefore in a free trade deal UK farmers could potentially be thrown to the wolves, you just cannot compete with the highly organised agricultural exporters.

Does moving abroad make you bitter ? or is it a trait you develop .
Don't think so. It certainly makes some of those clever buggers who can't hack it quite bitter though.
Another hero departing from the adjacent commune. Lasted just 6 years . Stripped the farm of trees as a departing shot. Its always been the ambition - to go home and get a job.

Profits can be made in land use, commerce, energy, vertical integration .. and there are synergies back to agriculture for all of those.

Recycling inputs .. so for example Public Compost, Bioenergy, Biosolids, Digestate, Wind energy, Solar Energy all of which are not directly linked to agriculture for profits but feed back into agriculture with inputs.

There are many others IMHO.

I doubt you can because you just don't have the population density.

For example .. some farms in my area make £10,000s if not £100,000s from Caravan storage.
