Brutal weather last night. 1inch of rain/sleet/snow and temps down to just above freezing.

clear skies at 5am fur couple hours but now hammering it down again

hills above me are white, and thru arnt high hills and only a few miles from the coast

I fully expected to pick up dead lambs this morning but so far all ok. Just two lots of doubles to check.

Ground is sodden. Ewes look miserable. Lambs huddled up in what shelter they can find.

Fed up…
These are not supposed to start for another few days..

...at least she waited for a gap in the weather to lamb bit still managed to drop them in a muddy puddle
The one sitting down isn't too bad but the little one definitely has that 'domed head, born before it's time' look.
We have a field shelter, with 2 or 3 pens in it, in that lambing park so I popped them in a pen and went for a tube and some colostrum.
In the meantime the little guy must have had a suck as he definitely wasn't empty when I tubed him.

havent bothered with the snacker feeder this year. This was my effort to get to some dry spot to feed with bags. I failed and reversed out.
My son was here today so I sent him off to one of the sheds with one of the students, to grab a buggy full of small bales and a look over the moor ewes, fortunately I said leave the buggy on the track and walk round the sheep, even on the top fields he said it was saturated, while they did that the other student and myself, shifted the expectant easycare experiment to a bit of fresh grazing ( caught a prolapsed ewes whilst at it)
Seems no end in sight to this rain
