I think you’ll need to put another order in!
These sheep must have scanned at some crazy figure surely and you can’t have had many losses.
228% over all, but a bigger percentage of triples and quads have lambed, one group of ewe tupped on roots for 246% and 2/3 of them have lambed, plus the scanner missed a far few triples and quads. Haven’t worked out the losses until the end.

Not sheep today, did a @Cammy Wilson on my truck this afternoon. Tired and not concentrating after work reversed my truck into the corner of the bosses garage wall. Bloody great bend in the rear quarter. Tiny crease in one place and a couple of deep scratches. Purely cosmetic but f**k sake! Just what I didn't need! I'll run it into the garage tomorrow and break my heart over the cost to get it pulled out and painted up.
How's the Wall though....?

These fek ups won’t stop !
Here early today as I don’t want to get caught out. 4:30 😖 creeps in with head torch on and .. nothing
Then I seen a moor ewe we had brought inside ( prolapse) started to lamb but with the tell tale dark red dead lamb juice.
I can’t for the life of me get it , heads under and back and she has ring womb, I’ve got her to open up and got feet out but no chance with head . I’ve had to admit defeat and phone the vet , someone just phoned and said it will be 50 minutes so it’s better if you bring it to us in Halifax, no I said I’ve 200 plus ewes here lambing, oh said he , it will be 50 mins then.

Now if it takes them 50 minutes from Halifax to me … how long does he think it will take me from here to Halifax?
on the up side , a little speckled face Welsh ewe has just delivered a cracking gimmer all by herself.

are you lambing indoors with a head torch?.....if so why not consider few of these? tenner from screwfix placed around sides have really good 'floodlight effect'......i think they help ewes as they can see what they're doing

I come in with head torch as it causes less disturbance, especially on last checks , if they are cudding quietly I leave them to it , same first thing , but if one’s lambing or needs assistance I turn the lights on .
We used to be here like mugs until midnight with lights on , now we are home with a brew by 9-30 ( unless something needs sorting)

I’ve some ordinary betamox( not la) vet got it as pen& strep substitute, trouble is it’s been open a while ( like the loxicom) so I wouldn’t use it on a lamb
Typical unorganised chaos, I should have had new stuff here , running about with the mrs in hospital buggered my routine
Bloody sheep

bloody women 😉
its hard to be organised at lambing time and your mrs in hospital too and i hope she makes a speedy recovery

Just hit a 1/3 (450 ewes) of the way through lambing in first 5 days 1100 live lambs, it’s going ok some lambs a bit small (triplets and quads), some lacking a bit of milk or bad bags and having watery mouth in big twins 🤔, other than that it’s ok. Been kick out early because the weather is fine and loads of grass. View attachment 1171375Got 400 acres in the bottom like this, 200 that have been grazes hard by sheep in winter and 200 that’s been f**ked by polo ponies.
i,ve no grass envy there whats so ever 😂

cracking numbers there, they should soon get going wi that grass

For us one man bands, a lambing camera is a game changer.
No need to go disturbing them without reason..

You can see what's going on while sitting in front of the fire..

360° view, works in the dark, has sound so you can hear anything in distress, zooms in so you can read their eartags if you want..

Mrs YB said we should have one years ago but I was always sceptical.
She was right (as always). This is our 3rd (or 4th ??) year with it. For what it costs, at today's hogg prices, you don't need to save many lambs to pay for one.

Shut it you 😂 bloody garage just jumped out of nowhere alright! It was one of those things where I was looking for everything but didn't notice the garage. Made even worse by the fact I checked the eldests car on Wednesday night, her dad sourced for her from a 'mate', and it had 2 nearly bald tyres on the inside on the front and cracking/perishing on the inside of all 4. Plus a nail in one of the back ones. So I'm just waiting at the garage for £200 quids worth of new tyres! Good job it's a little sh!t box fiesta with wheel barrow wheels. This afternoon's job is to get it in the garage at home and see what of the advisories on the last MOT weren't actually sorted out. Brakes, exhaust and springs were all on the list. There's a reason I told her and her mum not to involve him! He's a knob!

@Jonp mentioned cameras, our house is unfortunately ( or fortunately) 800mtr and a hill away from the shed

Wish I could turn out, but cold wet & windy.

Off back out to try to make space in the barn, move inlambers. Then start mucking every shed with ewes & lambs out, Had two cases of mastitis, nuisance.

Three laid out pushing next to each other, off to pen anything up as soon as it lambs. Run out of hurdles too using little straw bales now.
Surprising how quickly we run out of hurdles ( and pens)
Had bitter cold winds and sharp hail showers up here this morning. Seems no end to the crap weather
