Fake or Fortune

Remember a TV programme years ago, it may have been on Nationwide, where Fyfe Robertson was sent to report on a piece of installation art outside the Tate, namely an artistically arranged pile of bricks.

He stood there looking at it and in his droll Scottish accent just said: ‘That’s not art …. that’s fart.’

I collect bits and pieces - often naked ladies - that one day may make my fortune

A few years ago, I was sitting in a Dulverton (Devon IIRC) eatery nibbling at an artisan burger. Instead of gazing lovingly in to the eyes of Mrs BR , I was drawn to an antique shop across the road where the artwork below was artfully lit.
To cut a long story short, I bought it for not a lot of money. It might make my fortune if I could only find out who painted the damn thing ....

Really pleased to see that one again, very happy to confirm I did that in my early period.
Sadly it was stolen from my studio in 1967 , so please may I have it back?
They also took many from my blue period, which tended to concentrate on a lot of smoky tractors if any one has seen one😂😂😂

I don't know why but looking at that painting reminded me of the advice given to me by an old school chum. He said, "No matter how beautiful the girl, don't forget to take a good look at her mother because that's what she'll look like in 20 years time". -:)

All this reminds me of the Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones advert for Vileda mops - can't find the clip but if you are old enough you might remember!
