Farm Workshop fire insurance claim

We recently had a fire that has caused a fair bit of damage to our steel framed composite clad work shop offices and kitchen .We managed to put the fire out ourselves before the fire brigade arrived but not before the heat had buckled the sheeting, started burning through one of the roller doors and filled everywhere with smoke .
Our insurers have accepted the claim and are writting off practically everything in the workshop , offices and Kitchen thats covered in soot , their current protocol is
to expect us to empty all the contents ( the building is structually safe to do so) so they can clean all the dangerous soot etc before repairs can commence.
We have had no choice but to retreave ourselves office contents /paperwork and tools that are useable ( but covered in soot) in order to carry on day to day work

My question is have any other forum members been expected to remove contents ahead of a clean up ? , I beleive now the insurer has accepted resonsibility for the clean up, they
are in breach of Health and safety expecting us to move items that are covered in soot from the building ,and todate we have not received any risk assesements etc ( which we have asked with the insurers name on the paperwork as they are the lead contractor that has taken control of the site effectively)

Wear a mask? The insurer hasn’t told you to do it naked?

When we work for clients and take responibility for a site then we have a duty of care for everyones safety , masks are fine but had no idea how corrosive the smoke is having seen spanners and tools that have rusted due to smoke damage rather than heat damage .Of course no problem for us to wear PPE just asking
what others have experienced if they had suffered a fire , the smoke has even got into filing cabinets and files on shelves which they cannot clean , moreover amazed insurers dont seem to worry abouts Rams

Ask to meet with the loss adjuster and tell them to sort it. You’re insured to get the work done so shouldn’t have to do anything yourself unless you want to (if it were me, I’d probably want to remove sensitive info rather than let a stranger do it). Anyone who does do work on your land should be working to agreed RAMS, so kick them off site until you’ve been given copies to agree/ review.

So you went in an retrived the tools and paperwork you needed...............without a risk assessment.............. but are then moaning that the insurance company hasn't given you a risk assessment to dispose of the stuff you don't want !!
