Farmer of the year having a burnup
Just as well I'm not allowed an opinion eh.
I think it is one of their properties which has lost all 30,000 cattle on the place.
Apparently everything is dead including the kangaroos and even the birds died.
Well, all that carbon would only get in the way of being "efficient" anywayView attachment 766368 View attachment 766370 View attachment 766372

It's been a while since I've seen burning stubble - usually it's a result of a burning baler!Well, all that carbon would only get in the way of being "efficient" anyway

Cold water or cold ambient?Heard one bloke on the radio who had lost 60,000 breeders . . .
There was another story of an AA Co place that had spent millions in the last few years on earth works building banks & high refuges for cattle in times of flood - they all went a metre under water
They reckon the cold killed as many cattle as the water did - unbelievable to die of cold in the Gulf Country in February

Yes. CAN you turn straw into biochar? I thought biochar was part burnt then left to "cook" in the absence of oxygen. Straw burns so fast I'd think that would be impossible in the field. How far off biochar would the remaining ash be....probably too far gone.
However using the right equipment....Yes. CAN you turn straw into biochar? I thought biochar was part burnt then left to "cook" in the absence of oxygen. Straw burns so fast I'd think that would be impossible in the field.
It's going good thanks. A couple of weeks left in the first course, should go and pick the second one soon. Maybe it won't have so much equipment in it@Blaithin how is your agronomy course going?
There's quite a few ecosystems that have evolved to require a burn to give things a boost."The soil works better after a good burn"
