I had the radio a bog standard Sharp, wedged in between the safety frame and the cab roof wrapped in foam [ I was posh  with a rigid cab ] right in the middle at the back with the head fone jack in the middle as well so the cable stayed behind you as you turned . Radio 1 during the day and Luxembourg through the night.
I had one of these.....

....a Grundig Topboy in a Ford 5000. It had a DeLux cab(enclosed back with glass window;)) Mine, too, was wedged in the lip between the roof and the safety frame. I used a standard earplug under MF earmuffs. Two drawbacks:-
1. you could forget you were wearing the 'apparatus' and jump out to make some adjustments - ripping the whole lot off your head:oops:
2. when cross dragging (we did a lot of dragging in those days:rolleyes:) the Grundig could shake loose and drop down onto your head:eek:

I've just been to look ours up............
MF165 NTL 317P Reg. March '76
We bought it at a local farm sale in May '77 with 300 hrs on the clock and a Mil Master Mk2 power loader for £4500.
Sold June '99 with 7418 hrs.
Total depreciation cost £0.47/hour.
Total repair/servicing cost £0.51/hour.

They don't make 'em like that anymore:whistle:
We had NTL 716P here, also a 165. Out of P & B at either Brigg or Market Rasen.

Ours was a Brigg tractor in the days when Jeff Spencer was workshop manager. I don't have any pictures of her when she was a front line tractor but here she is when she joined the lime spreading gang in the late 70's...

Front wheels 'borrowed' off a MF525 combine and a Chieftan Forge 30cwt forklift on the back for 1te bags.

I can't remember:(.........................
................................. but you're in luck:whistle:............the chap that drove that outfit (who doesn't work for us anymore) has been here for his tea tonight:hungry:...so we worked it out:). The Ford in the picture (which says 6700 on the bonnet is actually a 7700 - but that's another story:rolleyes:) has a set of Terra Tyres on it. These were lent to us ,on demo, by B.A.Bush and Sons. We got on well with them and ordered a set for the tractor and pair for the spreader too. They were delivered just prior to us going to the World Ploughing Match when it was held at Whispington Nr Horncastle.........so we Googled when that was......1984.

So that picture was taken in September 1984.
Therefore that MF165 was 8yrs 6mths old.....QED...:LOL::LOL:

The back wheels are a bit rusty because, as well as spreading lime, we also spread several thousand acres of corrosive salt on sugar beet land. You have probably noticed the home made glass side windows in the cab too - in it's early years it spent a bit of time on a hedgecutter.

thankyou I thought the wheels are very rusty and the loader also. I just like to build a picture in my head as I work with these tractors everyday so the quality of paint fit and finish etc bla bla bla

Right come on then the 6700 7700 story
Nowt much in it really - we had a 6700 and a 7700 at the time.............
28.jpg

........................7710....................................7700..................TW20...............6700
The 7700 had spent a lot of time on the hedgecutter and the N/S guards were a bit chipped, so when the 6700 went on the hedgecutter we swapped the guards so we didn't have two sets that were chipped :)
