Farming in a goldfish bowl!

My home farm is on the edge of a town, the amount of people walking across it is incredible, they cant help but tell you about your problems, they watch you drive out of a field and then start to tell you that you have a lame one (like I don't know iv just come out of there!).
I don't mind people watching the sheep, but the people videoing you when you are doing something really gets on my nerves, If I lent over the garden fence and started to film them in the garden they would phone the police!

Seriously lost half my day today, driving TWICE to go and put sheep back in "about to get on the road" which were actually just sticking their heads through the fence to eat the ivy off the hedge . . . . . . same house rang repetitively until I went out. Upon arrival I realised that the womans day consisted of standing in her garden . . . . . . .

Why do these folk never see a sheep on its back in time? Or a hung or hungry lamb etc.
Why wait for the sheep to be on its back, just stick the back legs down your wellies.

...Also getting very tired of the fact that everyone is sat about with nothing to do and so spend their days advising me what I'm doing wrong, what I should be doing etc.
You not married then? :woot:

Neighbours ?
Ah, reminds me of the good old days; we had neighbours just over the river in Zim, twenty minutes drive in the dry season, nearly six hours in the rains. :)

Not if you continually moan and declare all of them thick and incompetent idiots all the time.
Strange one, in that so many hate Joe public, but obviously need them all the same to continue the lifestyle one likes to live..
Yep, like an old bloke from Swaledale use to say 'The public are all c ^ n t s except me and thee, and I'm not too sure about thee...' (y)

I don’t mind someone telling me what to do when they make cake, do the pet lambs and rear the pups 😂

I'm sure Honda need customers too, not sure whether they'd let folks wonder through the factory, dogs a crapping on the production line, vandalising equipment, hanging poop bags on unsuspecting robots, telling the foreman one of the Civic's looks a bit sick............

Somewhat different comparing that to open Land.

However I get your point as plenty do similar in parks, forrest walks, beaches etc, but the industry you work in isn't exactly without sin either - so both sides are in a position to clean up their own backyards so to speak.

I had a call a while back:
Caller: Theres a calf in the field opposite with your sheep.
Me: Are you sure?
Caller: Yes, definitely.
Me: What colour is it?
Caller: Black and white.
Me: But all my calves are brown.
Caller: Really? I thought all calves are black and white.
Me: No, mine are brown, but some of my lambs are black and white!
:banghead:

Bless!

You don’t need to be in the urban fringe. We’ve been inundated with folk this last year. A lot of dog attacks too. Hundreds of people in our little village every weekend while we are locked down supposedly

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
