Haven’t done any figures but 500 ewes and 50 cows won’t buy 1.7m farm if you asked the bank

Definitely right but I wouldn’t want to be buying a farm the way things have gone up and still are going up at the minute.
Diesel went up another 8p a litre on Thursday probably the same for you

Contractors have gone very quiet,and not touting for work anymore. Big operator near me,but usually does stubble to stubble etc,has two T8,s full tank 400 litres,and uses that in a days work.

Easy for them to say though isn’t it? They don’t have to make the repayments.

I think what he means is it’s the return which is the important bit regardless of anything else

We never bought anything that didn’t go way over what we budgeted for and we worried about it afterwards instead of standing back before

Yes ours was supposedly for sale a good few times after we bought it

All kinds bussiness and private investors . Terry wogan used to own alot , death dutys and subsidys see . Got a couple mill spare better planting a farm than in bank in it .

A lot of mp owed forestry very tax efficient

There was a breakdown somewhere about who was buying farms I think around a third was farmers and the rest was other investors it might have changed
Pretty upsetting to say but this one for sale could have trees written all over it
I did see a better farm allocated for trees in Co Durham lately

Average house price is nearly 300k without any ground and buildings, 1.7m doesn't seem too bad depending on what the house is like say 500000 for the house and buildings and 4000 an acre for the ground. Not saying farming will pay for it though, just shows how woeful farm incomes are.

Yeah absolutley, it's easy to forget just how much money is in the uk especially for dodgy carbon credit ponzi schemes

Can always cash it if things do not work out and there are many ways to borrow the money and give it a go. Anybody that can afford to stock it and put 500k down i think it would be a no brainer even at 2million
