Know how you feel I had one taken last week, was by a road but hidden an put an old battered one there that you would of walked past at a sale an said it wouldn’t work!! Robbing twunts will take anything if it’s not welded down here, an even if it is they’d probably do a good job of taking that too!!

Unfortunately in a world of battery angle grinders lock boxes don’t seem to much of a deterrent

True, but they can be made more secure in various ways, but probs not cost effective. :(

I will be putting in a new setup next year along with a new pole barn. My intention is to fit the battery/fencer with a solar panel, on top of a telegraph pole.

Major problem when you have sheep away from home and vulnerable. Luckily on this occasion a local property has agreed to let me put mains unit in garage.
I have a friend who has lost a couple and looks like he may have to abandon a good fodder crop because the scumbags keep finding the unit 😡😡😡

Seen that with a neighbour, ***stards walked a hell of a way around a field, to find a hidden fencer.

I wonder if a long, hidden lead out wire, and the battery and fencer hidden well away from teh fence could work?

Square mineral bucket with lid. Lead out cable instead of normal clip. Bury the bucket, have clod on top of lid too, use 2 rubber rings as seal around small hole in lid for lead out cable. Drive earth stake through another hole in bottom of bucket. Put unit & battery in bucket, lid on, try and have it soo the lead out isn’t easily seen connecting too wire. I try too get on a black fence stake... it’s a faff but it just makes it that bit harder. If they want them enough, there is nothing we can do too stop them.

Well the plot thickens, local farmer had a unit pinched for second time which was buried with lead out cable, sounds like they have found connection and pulled back cable to find unit.😡😡😡
My son thinks he has the ultimate deterrent which comprises digging a Tarzan style man trap with an upturned set or seed harrows in the bottom. When asked what he would do with the injured captives he suggested he would deliver them under darkness to his mate who has a pig finishing unit.
I think we might struggle with a legal defence (as tempting as it may be ! ) so we have resorted to a mains fencer supplied across Fields from local cottage. We will see how that goes 🤔🤔🙈🙈

I like his thinking. Dig the trap deep enough and no need too worry, just bulldoze it in over them. No one will miss thieving scum. 👌

They just see them in daylight then walk up the fence at night until they see a battery and unit.
Put a small notice on the battery stating that is painted with a slow-acting nerve poison absorbed through skin which takes a week to lead to paralysis. The antidote can be found by calling my number.

Take the handles off and tape some small fish hooks underneath where they pick it up.
