Fendt exhaust brake

Just been told by main dealer mechanic to stop using the exhaust brake on our 724 as it’s classed as an emergency brake only as it causes too much back pressure on the turbo and they fail.
Makes sense I guess but have always been encouraged to use it and they do push it when selling them so a little confusing!
Anyone else been told this? 🤔

I find it pretty ineffective compared to new Holland exhaust brake.

Wondered if mine works. Is there any light comes on to say it's engaged?

When dog sits on it while ploughing it definitely works.
They don’t work like they used to but I must confess I haven’t troubled the operators manual yet 😂

They are crap compared to a nh.
We have a 724 and an 820 . The 820 exhaust brake works well 724 is crap. I was told there are holes drilled in the baffle plate of the newer ones which doesn't cause as much back pressure compared to the 820. Probably to protect the engine and turbo possibly.
To test it if you set the hand throttle to above 1100rpm them press exhaust brake you should hear the engine fluctuate quite rapidly

Once accidently pressed it in an 818 whilst ploughing. A lot of years ago now but I'm pretty sure it was an intercooler pipe it blew off, Quick easy fix but a linkage ball was placed over it from then on.

Had my first drive in a Fendt the other day, the exhaust brake isn’t positioned for handy use like on my case

The exhaust brake on my 14 plate 720 wasn’t bad,the one on my 20 plate 724 wasn’t worth using,I asked the main man about them and they were indeed drilled out on the newer ones, all to protect the transmission.
