Fertiliser in spring seedbeds

We have Spring barley and wheat going in this spring, going to put fert on in two applications, was thinking half in the seedbed and half when in row, we have straight nitrogen and nitrogen/sulphur blends but not sure what would be best in the seedbed, is the sulphur better going on in the seedbed to get it into the plant earlier? Cheers

Do whatever suits your logistics. A couple of weeks won't make any difference to the sulphur especially as you'll be doing both passes in fairly quick succession. Peak sulphur demand is when peak nitrogen demand is too I.e stem extension to ear emergence though it needs to be on early for malting and is best done in good time anyway in case we don't get much rain.

As soon as I've drilled the ferty spreader will follow down the pre em marks with half the fert, for me this year it will be single top , although I would love to get it into the seedbed I don't want wheeling all across the ground, bad enough putting the sprayer into the field to spray the glyph
