Actually on the calibration front - if I am still on the remains of last years fert I copy the settings I used then. For new fertiliser I always start with a field that will be done multiple times (most of them) and use the setting obtained to adjust last years settings.

What are settings[emoji40]

Through time you learn that it's best not to focus on what you don't like doing, and just get it done.

I find every job is a means to an end, you either enjoy the whole job of farming or you don't. Each task is either enjoyed because you're happy whilst doing it or you're happy because it's done.

It's important to keep sight of the big picture and not bother to dwell on trivia.

This is a simple question:when coming out of a tramlines and turning right onto the headland, in which order do you shut off your spreader shutters? Left then right? I find it really hard to picture what's happening behind as I turn!

Left one first, about half way through the turn. Shortly followed by the right one, just as you finish the turn into the headland tramline.
That's how I've done it for a while now.

Put spreader on tractor set to 40 put a bag in and off we go round and round the field if it looks to be going to fast or slow that is what the gearbox is for {variable rate spreading sometimes], I am not sure what distance I drive I spread so much lime I can't drive any different and cant drive wrong even if I wanted to
I like the job Henry didn't though as he use to fly of the passenger seat on the humpy fields downhill and hit the windscreen

I also use variable rate, when I come across patch that's not doing so well I slow down abit with the gearbox
