FETF Perimeter Fencing Grant

Hi.
Has anyone applied for the perimeter fencing grant. Only just noticed that it says 2.5mm barbed wire, suppliers only have 2mm high tensile and 2.5mm mild steel. Does this mean we must use MS wire?
Thanks

We’ve done quite a bit. I argued HT was a better solution and they seemed ok with it. Phone them and ask for email to confirm

I did phone and sent details by email but they would not agree to allow the 2mm high tensile. I argued that it was much better than 2.5 mild steel but always got the same reply that it must meet the 2.5mm specification and could be checked after work completed.

I would try again with rpa as may get a different answer. New fg1 spec has been updated to allow high tensile barb this year. Mild steel barb spec is 20 years out of date if you ask me. high tensile far stronger and will last longer.

We had a fence inspection for mid tier last year and at no point did they measure the barb with callipers so think you would be OK if checked.

You could put in for a small capital grant for fg1 fencing instead which pays far higher at £6.34 per meter

this grant is making a return again in this years FETF, its for boundary fences, do you have to demonstrate that the neigbour has cattle? or can i apply to fence against fields against neighbouring pony paddocks or arable fields?

3m from the neighbours fence line thats alot of space wasted , then in a few years the neighbour can gain ground if you dont keep an eye on it !?
