Filling the fert spreader

I do all mine from the ground putting 5 bags into a Kuhn spreader just use a sturdy broomstick with a combine knife section screwed to the end, works a treat and you don’t have to put arms into harms way underneath a suspended weight!!
Which is exactly what l used to use.

Made these little platforms for my old spreader. View attachment 781910View attachment 781912
Nice idea but you look like you have more room?!

Must admit I use a aluminium fold up platform from behind with a knife, maybe should make up a knife on a pole.

Thanks for the replies, i guess i got used to being able to see the content of the spreader before filling. Also, useful if i need to fill the spreader to the top and it won't take x whole bags so the last one must be cut halfway up and moved around to fill it up nicely. This is what i have on the old spreader and i want to make a similar platform for the new one. i'm just looking to have it better built.

for looking into the spreader, perhaps a mirror fixed up somewhere ?….. or on a stick ...like a sort of 'selfie' one...:D

go to your local Kverneland dealer and order the ally step ladder for a kv geo spread fert spreader, they will come with hooks to latch sideways over the side . Easy to carry easy to use.
these ladders do hang off side when filling but i dont use it like that as it nearly fell off one day when spreader dropped with weight in it.
i lean mine against spreader and climb up.

Climb up between tractor and the spreader using the linkage arms. You can cut and shake both bags safely.

Please don’t. One day you’ll decide not to switch the engine off, the pto will activate and you’ll regret not replacing the damaged shaft...

Keep well away from the moving and potentially moving parts. Funerals are never fun.

No I don’t have pto on when I’m filling, who would?? And it would be the same standing at the back if somehow the pto switch on your just as close to the spinning discs at the back or side. But the benefit of what I’m doing is I’m not standing underneath fert bags or a moving forklift. Im far safer and happier where I stand.

Engine running? I’ve seen it all too often, and we have all too many tragedies in our industry.

Not having heard of this fertiliser spreader, I did a search and this video came up. It shows a fold down ladder being used at 1.35 to check the contents of the spreader. Is that what the OP needs?

We're getting these in stock, hopefully next week
they are a good job but not infallible either, the lad next to me has broke the top of his twice and ive plastic welded it but its a form of glass fiber reinforced plastic so its not too gone on welding, more of a buttering up process really but its held so far.
i have some stainless 6" pipe here, some 30x6 ss flat and some 5mm ss sheet, some day when i get peace ill make up the full stainless version in the hope of it being practically unbreakable or thats my thinking neways.
the plastic they use for the "toungues" is a bit of a mystery but iirc i have what i thought it to be written down somewhere.
