Photo attached .... she is a bit on the rusty side having been kept outside for many years but a recent acquisition for me and I have an opportunity to buy some large hay bales which I am told could weigh 550 - 600kg.

Should do though only one way to find out. I have same tractor with Cameron Gardner loader and it’ll quite happily lift a pallet with a ton of bagged feed. What limits it to a degree is how much weight is on the rear.

Its just I have to buy the hay before i can try it out, getting some weight on the back should not be a problem, I did read a report of the anchor at the bell housing giving way due to a heavy lift but I dont know what weight that was.

Not come across the bell housing issue. Being 2wd you will need a weight on the back to aid traction once you pick a bale up. I can’t tell from your photo but subject to your tractor being sound it should lift a 600kg bale. Mine has lifted hundreds of round bale silage bales in the past but not so much now. It’s semi retired as a John Deere does most lifting now.

Semi retired sounds good .... Im a little concerned also about the integrity of the hydraulic pipes they're a bit perished, generaly ropey but thats a maintenance issue for me. thanks for your comments its given me confidence to go ahead.

It should be fine, this is ours with bales of wettish chopped silage. Just wish ours had power steering but it is manageable.

That looks like it means buisness. Thanks for responding, mine does have power steering so thats a help. Ive only had the tractor for a short time so just seeing whats its capable of, I have a few issues one being that the draft lever is rusted, fused to the position control which makes linkage work a bit interesting the other which is more of a concern is that its only starting with easy start so I need to get my mechanics head on. It would be any fun without a few issues.

I should apologise in that I’ve just been on said Ford this afternoon and it is actually a 4600. Not sure there is a big difference. Mine has one of those bolt on power steering kits which helps with steering when a large bale is hung off the end of the loader.

4600 has a 4000 front end and is heavier. I would have still said 600kg is a fair call for the old girl but with a weight or a bale on the back she should be ok and the weight will be counterbalanced. Your arms will Thank the PAS

4100 has a 3600 front end and 4600 backend, is also only 52hp compared to 62hp the 4600. 4600 is a better tractor imo
